whether the lad is good enough or not or can adapt the premier league or not, its bordering on criminal that a player bought for £25m hasn't been given a chance to prove himself for a team that has had nothing to play for for the past few games and could really do with some creativity. We've been underwhelming at the best of times and Im sure putting him on from the start for some of the 'easier' home games to start with would have built him up over time.
We may never know now as he may well be off in the summer without having a proper chance
I think we've seen enough to prove conclusively how off the pace he is in this league.

IMO the reason he hasn't been seen since Koeman left is that we dont wish to underline to potential buyers just how poor he is. There's a calculation here to keep him out and to try and claw back as much as possible of the £25M that's been wasted.

He worked £25M his old club's way. Those people aren't stupid. Most of the Ajax lot would have known he lacked the pace, athleticism and presence required for the PL and Koeman would have known it too. But all he says in defence is that no one at Everton voiced their concerns.

He made a kings ransom at Everton and he made sure the only club he really identifies with weren't left out of the cash bonanza. The whole transfer stinks and is in all likelihood dodgy.

I wonder if there is any overlaps with agents etc, something just doesn't sit right with this one.

They have different agents, but it seems Klassen agents played for Ajax in and around the same time as Koeman. Could just be coincidence.

Just seems an odd one, maybe just bad judgement, we can take from his comments he was very much a Koeman pick as we always expected.

It would have been nice to see if he could have produced these last few games when we've struggled creating chances, he's also not afraid to take a shot on.

I'll be the first to admit I've never seen much of him before he arrived and i still haven't seen much of him, i have no idea whether or not he could have done better after a settling in period. I've seen better players than Klaassen take a full season to adapt to the premier league( De Bruyne deemed not upto it). I've also seen better players than Klaassen never adapt to the pace of the Premier League(Juan Veron anyone).

So I simply don't think he's had enough of a chance to show us. He seemed to become the instant scapegoat at the start of the season in that very difficult run of fixtures in which everyone struggled.

When Cruyff talked about anything Ajax related it was political. If he said a player (any player) was great, then almost certainly it was because a sworn enemy in that club thought he wasn't all that...and vice versa.

And you know this how?

Hi everyone, been 'lurking' for ages, but I feel I have to stand up for Klaassen. IMHO there is no way that you can say for sure that he can't cut it in the Pl. The modern game is all about partnerships on the pitch, finding the right blend etc. etc., and whereas I agree that he hasn't pulled up any trees, who's to say that in a team full of confident and skillfull players, he wouldn't prosper and grow, perhaps even into a regular goalscorer from midfield, which was what we bought?
I also have my doubts, but the current squad needs a complete makeover, more than anything in the sense that it has to be cut drastically, and I would just hate to see him get sent off without a proper chance of proving himself. Just my opinion, of course, and please forgive any bad grammar or spelling, as I am a Danish evertonian, and has been since the late sixties:-)

And you know this how?
Because that's the way Cruyff operated. Read his auto-biography and how others talk of him. In relation to Klaassen he was always passing comment on the Ajax management concerning his best position. Cruyff felt just in front of the defence - other wanted him further up the field.

honestly just think it was a bad signing, if we wanted Sigurdsson should never have signed him.
he was never going to be a centre mid in the prem, if he had a proper go playing number 10 who knows how wed have got on but we had too many.

also just have to chalk some up as a bad signing, Southampton got that Clasie who never looked a fit for the prem despite looking a nice player for fayenoord

No one should be paying £25M for any Dutch player. It's like throwing twenty odd million at a Scottish Premier League player. Absolutely nuts.

been a fair few successful signings from scotland recently, but they all made a move to a smaller side for lower fees then stepped up
(robertson, van dijk and wanyama im thinking)

hence why even if spurs, united etc went for Tierney i think we could offer a better option to him to sign for us, even him 20+mill and dembele would be a gamble though

Those players are good, but you just cant tell what grade they are unless you see them in CL games...which is how VVD stood out as a no brainer.
