This whole ‘time on the ball’ thing. Doesn’t quite add up with Klassen, as the lad plays more first time passes than anyone in the squad.
If I saw a flaw in his game, it’s that he didn’t spend enough time on the ball.
If Koeman deemed the premier league too fast for him, then why didn't he utilise his European experience in the Europa League? surely he couldn't have done any worse than the rest of the midfield!
Pace, physicality, tempo.
He's not the first or last to struggle with it in the premiership.
I have been on the side of giving him a chance but maybe you just have have to say one of the better teams in the EL final was were he was found out. He was anonymous. The fact that he cant get near the squad, let alone the starting 11 suggests he is some way off the quality needed.I am puzzled by the whole affair.
Didn't he Captain a side to the UEFA League final? A competition Everton weren't even in because not good enough.
Koeman says that there's not the same time on the ball in England. Can this really be true? I can't say I ever watched a UEFA League match and thought 'wow look how much time the midfielder has on the ball'.
Some of the better teams in Europe don't close down?
Can anyone point me to some actual evidence for this? Has anyone ever timed how long players have on the ball and can thy give a mean average time spent 'on the ball'?
Exactly. If anything, he should've been BETTER equipped than most. This whole ‘time on the ball’ thing. Doesn’t quite add up with Klassen, as the lad plays more first time passes than anyone in the squad.

Just done this for you mate and here is my findings
Time Klassen was allowed on the ball -
under Koeman : 6 seconds
under Allardyce : 2 seconds
Europa League for Ajax : 11 seconds ( except against Man Utd in the final it was 0 seconds as he didn't touch the ball )
Ajax Dutch league : 11 minutes
So we can see he had 11 minutes to pick a pass every time he had the ball playing in a crap Dutch league but when it came to the higher tempo ( or long ball as I like to call it ) of Everton, our Davy struggled big time.
