Would you sell yak?

Hasn't Moysie made it clear his priority is keeping this squad of players together?

I also remember Moyes saying (when Yak came back from injury) "we're unlikely to see the best of him until next season"

I believe he also said "Joleon Lescott is not for sale".

I don't see how that is relevant. Moyes would have forced Lescott to stay, if Lescott was a decent proffesional like Fabregas. Instead, Lescott made it plainly clear with his display against Arsenal, that we would have been paying him wages to train with the kids, because he was no longer prepared to make any effort.

It is very relevant. You were implying that Moyes comments meant the Yak would be here next season. They do not. Things change; is my point.

sell vaughan, keep Yak. Saha never starts more than 3 games in a row, and yak has something to prove. Beckford may or may not do the business and moyes clearly doesn't see anichebe as a striker.

I was implying, that Moyes was spot on in his assessment of the Yaks form last season.

I was implying by Moyesies comments this close season, that his priority to keep this squad together, is an implication he intends to keep the Yak. But what the hell do I know!? haha.

If we are talking £7m for Yak, then there is no chance at all of us letting him go. Let's see what our other options are- Saha is, what, 33? He's a fine player but his legs aren't going to last anywhere near a full season. As for Vaughan, I can't believe people are actually expecting him to make any sort of significant contribution, and he certainly isn't anywhere near to leading the attack for us. Beckford will hopefully become a regular scorer for us, but he is stepping up two whole divisions and it is a massive jump, and he has a lot to learn at this level. We certainly can't rely on him to provide us with a steady supply of goals until we assess how well he adapts to life in the PL, and that might not be until the 2nd half of the season. Silva hasn't even featured pre-season, so he's obviously not ready for PL action.

Now considering that, what if - touch wood - Saha went and got injured? That would leave us with Beckford & Vaughan. Can you see Chelsea or Mancs quaking in their boots at the prospect of facing us with this strike pairing?

But the question isn't "do you think we will sell the yak?" it's "do you think we should sell the yak"?

And at the end of the day he's not good enough (right now) to start over Saha (and possibly even Beckford) and I don't think he's worth more to the club than the 8 or 9 million pounds we can get for selling him. If we can get that money and Moyes chooses to keep him instead then, if he plays like he did last year, Moyes will have made a big mistake in not getting rid.

Of course, he'll have played a blinder if Yakubu comes good mind.

You're spot on with the first.

Ad he is trying to keep the squad together, but whether he wants to sell the Yak and bring in someone else is another story. The Yak doesn't seem to offer much anymore; people are focusing on the old Yak too much. He's shown glimmers, but he still looks a long way off the pace. But I'd love him to prove me wrong.

How do you know? He's played 20 minutes of a friendly game and actually did well when he came on. Let us not forget that Saha's form towards the end of last season was poor and Beckford has only played a few pre-season games.

He also played some games for Nigeria and a whole bunch of games last year. I'm judging him on those.

He looked far better than Saha did towards the end of the season, some of the reserve kids would have. And I like Louis, but he had a terrible time for whatever reason. He played well against Argentina and had two fairly average games in the other games, but he was playing in a poor team bereft of creativity.

Hardly anyone had a great world cup of note though. But for some reason or another Moyes has not really given him much time this pre-season.
