Holgate Racially Abused By Firmino - The Guardian

Thing is Dave, the fa want the rs in the top four this season, firminho gets a rightful 8-10 game ban they are playing solanke up top with zero goals and 10% of the ability, the arse will go out there season and they'd finish 5-6th a mile away from top four.
I wouldn't rule that out one bit.

Ultimately the game dances to the tune of who supplies the tv cash, and they want Liverpool in the CL. Arsenal wont be returned to as a brand until they get shut of "stale and boring" Wenger...and Chelsea everyone is bored with.

Perhaps the FA have told Everton there is no case to answer and our reaction has been to drop Holgate for falsely accusing somebody of racially abusing him. Wouldn't surprise me like.

"told Everton"

Hmmm....

Also would that genuinely not surprise you? I'd be fairly flabbergasted if that's what's happened.

My own feelings are that the FÃ have given them the nod that nothing will happen to Firminho anytime soon if at all. Why loan out Sturridge and not replace him when you are still in the CL and top 4 if you think your only striker is about to get a long ban?

Wouldn't look good for Premier league marketing purposes, if the team that is in most of the ads have had 2 players banned for racism. Not only that, but it wont help BT marketing of the Champions League if lfc aren't in it. There is a lot riding on Firminho's racist abuse of Holgate. The FA are dragging their feet because they want to ensure lfc are very close and near the top 4. If it was racist abuse in Russia, the FA would be all over it like a rash demanding action from UEFA, as would the media. But not in this case, no questions or articles about why the FA are dragging their feet. Spineless silence is the order of the day.

The process is basically labelling a professional athlete a cheat based on subjective rather than objective evidence. This isn't like doping tests.

To me, it's defamation. Similarly, I think Rodriguez is right to seek legal advice over being called a racist on very flimsy grounds and, yes, if Firmino is charged he would be right to do it too. Because being called a cheat or a racist is a very serious allegation to make and you should have very concrete grounds to do so - the processes the FA have are far from concrete.

The PFA will have signed up to something that no doubt agrees to those processes

Like the collective bargaining agreement in the NFL, which gives the league authorities inordinate power

If the only evidence was that one camera angle that doesn't show what Firmino said to get that reaction from Holgate and the ref who confirmed he heard and saw nothing as was reported at the time this would have been closed by now. There would have been a statement from both the FA and LFC clearing Firmino of any wrong doing. It's not in Liverpool or the FA's interest to sweep this under the carpet especially Liverpools after the mess they made of the Suarez thing. If the player has been found innocent they'll want to shout it from the roof tops whilst at the same time patting themselves on the back for the exceptional way they assisted the FA in their investigation (I can already picture oceans of tweets featuring #FirminoNeverWalkedAlone or something equally as cringy).
The fact it's gone very quiet and dragged on this long to me suggests there is further evidence that has complicated matters.

Not sure on the conspiracy theories of the FA delaying any charge until Liverpool secure top 4 myself but who knows I mean this is the same FA who had a new potato faced Kopite on their dubious penalty committee happy to ban Niasse for a dive but then openly admit on live TV that Lallana dived to win a penalty past us but he didn’t care because Liverpool won.

Having worked with most of the sports bodies and The FA, the reality is more like they know the wrath of god that will come down on them if they screw it up so are taking their time to sort it. Given its two of the highest profile teams, there is no way they are going to rush stuff out. There is enough going on in safeguarding without adding this and they are under enormous pressure. I really don’t see a big Liverpool love in - or protecting CL reputations, it’s too political for that. This is about saving FA careers and trying to do the right thing - much like diving. Put something in place then realise they’ve screwed it. My experience of The FA is not corruption but incompetence and internal politicking.
