Holgate Racially Abused By Firmino - The Guardian

if there was no evidence to support Holgates claim there would have been a statement by now. Even the FA aren't incompetent enough to forget telling the world the issue is sorted.

If Holgate has found to have falsely accused the media would have been all over it like a rash. The longer it goes on the less likely it is that there’s nothing to the case.

Best guess at this stage says they lack evidence to support bringing a charge but are holding off declaring the matter closed until they are reasonably certain no footage/ audio exists that will make that decision look any more questionable than it already is.

Has there been any communication about why Holgate has been absent for the past 3 games? From what I can tell no one has asked Sam in press conferences, non of the papers have said anything, its almost like there is media black out about it. Very odd
Our player, who was the victim of racism, is dropped by his manager; their player, the racist abuser, is swanning about on the pitch without a care in the world scoring and assisting.

I said last week these matters should and could be wrapped up in days rather than weeks/months if those accused were sidelined while under investigation.

Imagine what Holgate is thinking while he's doing nothing and twiddling his thumbs and watching on at that 'kin spanner Firmino lapping up the plaudits from the pundits.

I cant see why he would be dropped out of the whole squad with not a word being said. Even after the incident he was still playing and no worse than any of the other centre backs! The fact no one is asking any questions makes me think there is more to it

Perhaps the FA have told Everton there is no case to answer and our reaction has been to drop Holgate for falsely accusing somebody of racially abusing him. Wouldn't surprise me like.

Maybe he's been given no support in his accusations by the club and taken a stand on it?

I am not surprised. The Niasse 'dive' is not as worrying of course, but it shows that there's no 'football admin' leadership at the club. I don't understand really who is responsible for appeals and things like this, and why they wouldn't fight for Everton players. IF our player has done something wrong then we can also take care of it internally, but why not show some leadership on matters like this. Who is in charge really?

There is no right of appeal once a player has been found guilty of simulation. They form a simulation panel and their decision is final.

He hasn't been absent for the last 3, he was on the bench against Arsenal.

Think he's just been taken out because he had a couple of poor games against Spurs and West Brom personally. It's hardly a major shock/news story that a 21 year old centre half is finding himself behind more experienced players in the pecking order.

If I were Niasse, I'd have taken legal action over that all day long.

On what grounds though. To take legal action you would have to show the process was flawed or that the panel had come to a decision that was flawed. The process will of been signed off by a legal team and the panel has come to a decision based on their opinion which is going to be incredibly difficult to overturn.

I think there was very little we could do apart from Unsworth stating he thought the decision was wrong which is what he did.
