Sir Landon Of Donovan

Not that i wouldnt be happy with it, but i will be really surprised if he signs for us, despite the cash element of it, i think if there is spends there Davey would look at younger players.

So I am one of those converts that Everton has received - I live in San Francisco, and have been reading everything I can about Everton in prep for hopefully a Landon move. I guarantee you I would buy a kit or two, and I'm in the process of converting several of my friends.

I also have worked in marketing for 14 years, and this is an absolute NO BRAINER in terms of the money needed.

Shirt and merchandise sales
TV rights
Spillover marketing value from mentions with the US Soccer team
Being a part of Landon's endorsements in general (Nike will LOVE this)
Don't forget Tim Howard will also benefit - as will any other American that is signed with the team

You can absolutely market Tim & Lando together as the "American heroes" of the EPL. Jonathan Spector is untested, and as much as I love Clint Dempsey, he is not comfortable for the American media (just not clean cut enough - though that would change if Landon went to Fulham, Clint would be the scrappy one, Lando the smooth one). Tim and Landon are a striking pair (though you'd have to put Landon on a box for pictures :) ) - you could do combined shirts, merchandise etc.

Also, let's not forget ESPN here. If they are smart, they will televise every single game Tim and Landon play in. These are the rights they should acquire. Not many have Fox Soccer here, but ESPN, easy. And you bet your socks that they will run marketing for these games in the effort to grow soccer before 2014 Brazil - which will be PRIMETIME in the United States, and guaranteed 20 mil+ in viewers.

Everton will get noticed.

If I were Landon's agent I would try and get his endorser's involved. Honestly, how hard would it be for Nike to run an ad about Landon's Everton experience? It doesn't even need to be TV - it could be viral marketing. Everyone wins. Can't you see the ad? First Famous American playing for EPL team? "Just do it." "One game changes everything." Blah, blah, blah and $$ in jersey sales (US Soccer jerseys since I just realized Le Coq does your kits. Huh - wonder if that's a problem for his endorsement deal).

Sheesh. Apparently I can't post anything short. :P

P.S. The Guardian ran the story as well.

I would be so disappointed if we didn't sign him up. For all the American hype reasons given above, the guy speaks so highly of Everton and the fans and he was brilliant when we had him here - hard work, determination, goals, awesome player. We would really begin to have depth on the wings with some class players. I think it'd be worth the debt the club takes on. I blame Gosling if we don't sign him up!

Lando Evertonian, i knew my persistant texts would work.
Well in lad, you're a blue forever once Everton touch you.

On Sky Sports now too.........all the same stuff from the paper's

USA international striker Landon Donovan has admitted he would love a return to the Premier League with Everton.

The talented 28-year-old spent 10 weeks on loan at Goodison Park last term and enjoyed every minute with the Merseyside outfit.

Donovan had previous spells in Europe with Bundesliga outfits Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich, but it was with Everton that he showed his true form.

Whether the Toffees could agree a deal with MLS remains an issue as Donovan is on a long-term contract and MLS commissioner Don Garber is not looking to negotiate.

However, Donovan is not ruling out moving clubs and believes that with plenty of time before the European transfer window closes that anything is possible.

Return
"I would love to go back to Everton. I love the people there and I love the fans there," explained Donovan.

"But that said, I love being in America too, so we are going to take everything into account and see where it ends up.

"Anything is possible at this stage and I'm going to make the decision that's best for me. We hear little bits and pieces here and there and there have certainly been clubs that are interested, but right now, it's only preliminary.

"There's still a lot of time left in the transfer window, so we'll see what moves are made and, if it's serious, then we'll treat it seriously."

Looks a lot more positive than some of his recent outbursts. We definitely need him as we've seen he adds another dimension to our play. All depends on the price, and whether we have the $$$$$$$

Hmm, this should be fun.

Would like him back as hes a good player, its all about the detail though fee/wages etc.

Moyesys just been on:

David Moyes has re-asserted that this summer won’t be one of major signings for Everton, but has said it is down to the board to make sure he doesn’t lose his best players.

The Blues’ boss has already made several small-fee signings this summer, but he insists that there won’t be floods more arriving.

“I don’t think it will be a busy one,” Moyes said of his summer.

“The biggest thing is we keep the players we have got at the club.

“It is for the board and chief executive to re-sign the players we have got and if they do I will be happy.

Hopefully we will add one or two additions, then I’ll be looking forward to next season.”
