Computer games.

To be fair, rightly or wrongly, autism is a pretty common word thrown around in Twitch Chat and online. I don’t feel the people using it are belittling those who suffer from it - intentionally anyway.

Not saying it’s right of course. It isn’t. Though some people are happy to make jokes about anything unless it’s something that’s happened to them or those close to them. I just feel it’s a touch hypocritical sometimes.

Leave it in Twitch Chat, whatever that is, but not in here. Has been our stance for like ever. Same with certain papers. Y'know.

Its used all the time all over the internet, this is literally the first place I've ever come across thats got upset about it being used in that context... thats no exaggeration.

I won't use the term here in future if it upsets that much.

I constantly tell my mate on discord that he needs to have a CATscan cos he has "something wrong with his head".

Just bants innit.

The post was reported, I responded, and you have responded as well. Myself, consider the issue closed, so get back to chatting about computer games. No harm done.

Its the same as taking the piss out of anything you don't like whether that be Southampton fans in your case or in my case esports.

I don't want to live in a world where I can't take the piss out of this

But I’m aware that Saints fans exist and that some are my friends. It’s a little different.

People like different things. Get used to it.

Im also aware esports fans exists (??!?!) and a couple of my friends are into it... They would be in full agreement with me with regard to how cringy it can be.

I'll have to start using the 'people like different things, get used to it' line the next time I see someone cuss down Liverpool fans, bet that will go down well

For the avoidance of doubt, It has been a long time held stance that certain phrases, references, and newspapers are off limits on GOT. Despite what the rest on the internet may tolerate. Humorous references to autism is one of that short list.

Please, carry on. Like I said, no harm done.

I agree, but I don't think he uses it as a humorous reference but more in a way of describing a certain behaviour that is part of the spectrum of autistic behaviour as most people recognize it (not entirely correct off course since a very wide spectrum etc...). I don't understand what's the difference with schizophrenic 'jokes' though (marrying yourself etc). An equally (sometimes even more) debilitating condition and frankly quite misunderstood one. For some reason people keep confusing it with a dissociative identity disorder (where it's possible to distinguish two or more personalities; mostly caused by an extreme trauma etc...). A schizophrenic doesn't have multiple personalities; I think it's easier to look at it as someone who's stuck in a psychosis for a while. Who has a different perception of reality, and who can be unsuited for general life until it subsides. They are usually quite hurt when somebody assumes they have multiple personalities etc.

I don't understand why that is allowed. I mean this in a friendly manner btw, just curious. No ulterior motives.

So? Take the piss. Do you think we're all like that though?

But let's not imagine all sports, be it electronic or actual real life ones, don't have an insane amount of cringe moments, cringe interviews, cringe reactions, cringe fans. You like (let's say) american football? NAH MATE THAT'S TOO CRINGEY HOW DARE YOU LOL YOU'RE A PLEB GO BACK TO YOUR CAVE IDIOT!?!?!

Or let's pretend it doesn't take thousands of hours of practising for those people to go there, on an actual stage, in front of a live crowd and people watching at home. The only change in that from real sports is the fact it's looked down upon massively, still, for no reason whatsoever.

But darts is perfectly fine as a sport.

Also you using twitch chat as an example of every person out of the 1.4m that watched the final alone is basically like saying every football fan is a kopite just because the RS also have fans... Just saying.
