Ah, my bad.
Don't remember him being loathe to play him, though? Pretty sure he was straight in their line-up wasn't he?
In fact yes, he was, because didn't he score against us in their game at Goodison (the 6-2)?

Loads of pro Sam, some against. Concensus seems to be he didn't want to play him initially but adapted as he was pretty much the only forward.

Do we...
We beat em 4.2 last year.
They beat us the year before.
He definitely played in their first few games, but their results were poor iirc so maybe he got dropped and then came back into the line-up later on?
Either way, I was wrong on Defoe's signing so I'll scratch that one off![]()
Double-edged sword this
On the face of it, signing Tosun and Walcott wouldn't be a bad idea whether it was Allardyce or anyone else as manager - they improve us
N'Zonzi has been a mainstay of a good Sevilla side over the last few years - he's clearly an upgrade on Schneiderlin
We need a left back - as long as it's someone who can overlap, is left-footed, young enough to improve, can get up and down and has decent delivery, I won't criticise the signing because we are absolutely desperate for a left back and it isn't Allardyce's fault that Koeman and Walsh thought we could go into the season with one almost 33 year old left back to last us the whole campaign
So, on the face of it, transfer activity seems reasonable enough no matter who is in charge
The flip side is that Walsh is still DoF and, as we know, he is very pro-Allardyce. My concern is that we now have an old boys network in senior positions - Walsh, Glover, Allardyce, Shakespeare, Lee - all go back a long way together. You can be absolutely certain that they'll all stick together at the end of the season when we need to make changes and they'll either all need to go as a package or we'll keep them all. I know what my preference would be, but if we make some sensible signings in this window (which would be practically a first under Walsh), I think it strengthens the hand of the manager and I've already seen enough to know that we're just going to get more of the Koeman-esque brand of dull, pointless football

But we still don't always draw 2.2.....Last 11 home league games 3 wins 7 draws 1 defeat.
No it is not.....don't want el fraudo mk 2 anywhere near us...best hope is we are looking now at someone really decent, get rid of Sam at the end of this season and go from there...oh wait look at our useless decision makers at board level.....until they go nothing will change.Just after Silva has been sacked. Interesting....
For what it's worth, I'd sack Allardyce immediately and give the job back to Rhino until May. Allardyce has already proven himself to be a complete fraud and a very toxic influence on our great club.
Yes....we are still a great club even after this debacle of a season.
