Come on Spurs. 9th is a false position because there's only a few points between us and clubs down to 15th. Even as bad as we are I think we'll end up with 40 points maybe 38 at worse which should be ok, because we have match changers that others don't. But it's too close for comfort and this season has been an utter shambles.

Six points off the drop as we speak, absolutely terrifying. Come on Spurs, we need as big a gap as possible.

If we don't beat Leicester the teams directly above the relegation zone (Newcastle v Burnley, Southampton v Brighton, Stoke v Watford) have a huge chance to bring us even closer to the drop. So scary.

Week after we're away to Arsenal, big defeat. Again Southampton have a favourable game (away to WBA, Palace home to Newcastle, Bournemouth home to Stoke)

Week after we've got Palace at home who have a great record at Goodison. Again teams below us have favourable fixtures (Stoke home to Brighton, Huddersfield home to Bournemouth, West Ham home to Watford).

We need those two home victories in the next three games or we'll be about 3 points off the drop if we don't win in the next three matchdays.

True it's worrying, I can't see where our next win is coming from right now too. But we will win a couple there's just too many games against dross for us not too and we are averaging a point per game. I can't see all of the sides you mentioned winning regularly enough either. But yes we are definitely in the mix until we get those wins.

Honestly, Leicester will score at least two goals with Mahrez and Vardy playing. I can see Allardyce going for the 0:0, Leicester scoring first and us bringing Niasse on in the hope or scraping a point out of it. No doubt Allardyce would see it as a brilliant result. Against Arsenal I'd play the reserves because we have absolutely no chance of anything there, so get the players ready for yet another cup final vs Palace.

Six points from those three games will keep us safe this season, but we won't get them. I'd be surprised if we even got three points. I'm going for 1 point, a draw against Palace.

I think it looks more perilous than it actually is, based entirely on the number of clubs below us rather than the points.

For us to be relegated, at least 9 teams need to overtake us. I can’t see stoke, Brighton and Newcastle all winning 6 more points than us before the end of the season, let alone Southampton.

Obviously this assumes we actually win a few more games this season...

Our current form is relegation form.

8 of the 11 teams below us have picked up more points than us.

6 of the teams below us have a better goal difference than us.

Having said all that, i don't think we will go down, but stranger things have happened.

If we lose the next two which is very possible.I'm hoping someone comes in for Mahrez before we play Leicester he will rip us apart if he plays. I think the Palace game will be huge I think we can win it but we need luck and to play our best team. It's all very worrying but I cant see us not winning a few more games and picking up some draws at least but we are definitely in a battle. Not helped by Big Sam who choked off the revival and momentum we were building with over negativity and chopping and changing.

I don’t disagree, but we’re over half way through the season and we’re ahead of over half of the teams in this league. Things can change (and quickly) but the fact we’re 9th despite how awful we’ve been suggests that something beyond catastrophic would have to happen for us to go down

Edit: obviously we can’t afford to be conplacent though, we still need to get points on the board

We are now six points above Saints in 18th place and with an inferior goal difference.

Few on here see us taking more than one point from our next two games.

This club needs to be very wary lest we are dragged back into a situation we thought our little spurt in late November/early December had got us out of.

I saw the proper teams this morning on tele. backheeled passes, marvellous interchange passing, first class finishing, all by City, Arsenal and
Chelsea, I know the opposition wasn't upto much, but some of the teams we play aren't upto much. We are rubbish right through the ranks,
From Chairmen and Board, from management to backroom staff. Our players are just not upto scratch. Everton does not deserve these
loyal fans.

We're 'lucky' that we have as many points on the board as we do and this is something that all those below us have going against them. I think 38 points will be enough to stay up, but regardless of the exact number it takes, i'm very very confident in my prediction that it will not take 40 points to survive this year. Just looking at the table highlights why not all the other teams below will get over 38.

Forgetting Swansea for a minute, who if they lose tomorrow to the RS, won't catch us. Southampton have only won 4 games all season, and West Brom only 3. To get to 38, Southampton would need to get 5 wins and 1 draw from 14 remaining. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that they will be able to get more wins in 14 matches than they have achieved in 10 extra games so far already (the 24 they have played). If they do, the wins are most likely to be at the expense of the other sides below us and not any of the top 7/8. West Brom would need either 6 wins, 5 wins and 3 draws, or 4 wins and 6 draws just to achieve 18 more points. That is just not going to happen.

That's ignoring other sides who have been in awful form for months now like Newcastle, Watford and Brighton. Since the West Ham game in November when Allardyce then took over, we have got 13 more points. In that time Watford have only got 5, Brighton 6, Southampton 6, Newcastle 8, West Brom 8, Swansea 8.

We're a very poor side unfortunately and it's been a terrible season but there are quite evidently several clubs in the league who are considerably worse than us and that's shown in the league table, and the form table since our current manager took over.

6 points off the relegation zone, playing poorly and struggling to get results (and shots on goal), so yes - we are in the fight.

Assuming 40 points is safety, we have 14 games to pick up 12 points - which is actually below our current points-scoring rate. We actually have to get worse (if that's possible) to go down.
