Allardyce Revisited

I think a lot of the original post is now redundant.

For me Allardyce essentially moved away from what was working too quickly and had greatly overestimated this squad.

1- The defensive stability he got was very dependant on getting every piece of the jigsaw perfect and when alterations came it came apart.

2-His desire to play more squad players came too early.

3- He has tried to set us up to be offensive too quickly.

I think the way we played against Liverpool might have given false hope that we could if not go toe-to-toe, then at least be less circumspect as you say. Only to have Spurs up.

I do think he should go back to basics asap - as unpalatable as that is for the majority - it will get us to safety sooner rather than later and we can have the post mortem as soon as PL status is guaranteed.

I haven't really seen anything surprising from Sam so far. We knew what he would prioritise and attempt. I'm seeing a lack of balance and quality and dreadfullly poor attitude from the players more than anything else. He can't be expected to remedy that in a month.

..whether it was ‘the boince’, whether it was luck, whether it was tactics and hard work on the training ground, Allardyce did remarkably well getting us to 27 points around Christmas. I doubt any manager could have got a better return. The challenge now is to get us four more wins before the end of the season. I honestly don’t know if we’ll get to 40 points.

Folk want this team to be more expansive. I want this team to be more expansive but i’m not certain they are capable. Game after game with no shots on goal might be more about the quality of players we have than Allardyce’s tactics.

Yep.

But dont forget we've had two bad games in WBA and Bournemouth who we'd think we'd get a result. The loses at United, RS and Spurs just reflects the squad and it's limitations.

Personally believe allardyce should drop Rooney siggurdson bolasie and play klassen vlasic and sandro going forward. Completely revamp the attack alongside tosun.

Agree on points 1 + 2, but can't get my head around why wait until the Tottenham game to go more offensive? Shuts up shop (or tried to!) against West Brom and Bournemouth, games that we should have been more offensive, and we all know what happened! Then off he toddles to Wembley and goes (slightly) more offensive, an accident waiting to happen that actually happened!
Re your point 2, what did the Holgate/Williams two at the back do so wrong to deserve getting split up? Looked reasonably solid together, things going ok then he changed it and its been a car crash ever since!

Its as bad as it was under Walter Smith, Mike Walker etc...The once great club is a total shambles. I can't see a change until the supporters vote with their feet, ignore the emotional blackmail ('Evertonians are born not manufactured' etc...) and get the board out. This club from top to bottom is a laughing stock. It's one thing losing but my God they're total dross to watch and that won't change. Lot's of blame must go to Keoman still don't understand what he was trying to do but the first bullets should be at board level. Total embarrassment.

It shocks me how many posters don't or can't take in these obvious facts

By hook or by crook, we’ll get those vital four wins before the end of the season as eggs has stated. Of that, I have no doubt.

But my point is that it’s pretty much all academic as far as the Board and sam are concerned: there’ll be a new manager in place by the start of next season.....even if it’s Dyche.

He needs to go back to what worked originally - a flat back four of Kenny, Holgate, Williams & Martina and just get them to sit. Don't mess around with it.
