from what was said when the stadium was first talked about was thew council are securing funding but not lending us the money they are guarantors for it and they are taking a fee for it. new accounts are being set up with the tv money going into it so the council know the funding is there to be paid. summit like that anyway
But mate the Everton knockers on here don't want to read that, they want to read about Everton and the council robbing the poor, and taking the p!z.

Yeah, the council is not just splashing down 300 million in cash. If they borrow the money, lets say at 2%, and then Everton pays them at a 3% rate, they make money every single month with no cost to them. The ONLY risk to the council is Everton being relegated and struggling to come up with the 15 million per year cost. They arent fronting money that could go towards other projects, they are borrowing money they wouldnt have borrowed otherwise.

Thats what was agreed last year with a SPV loan vehicle.

That has now changed, to what I'm not totally sure of.

Bill Kenwright on Farhad Moshiri: “I never here him say, 'no'. He’s a true Blue. He says, “You’ve got a dream, I’m going to help you get that dream. I have to say to him, 'thank you'."

Can someone please just ask why this club is a mess and just insist on getting a look at the designs( if there are any)

Have to say its depressing about BMD.

Obviously cannot secure commercial funding which seemed to be the sine qua non of Moshiri being here.

It doesn't matter how this is spun - regeneration, job creation, new investment etc etc - it will be seen as a hard-pressed local public being asked to do without or with reduced essential services in order to give a club from the money train Premier League 2/3 of the cost of a new stadium.

Manna from heaven for kopites and anyone looking to jump on a bandwagon.

Surely this makes the build less rather than more likely.

I hope I'm wrong but the additional funding might be a moot point indeed if we are not building soon.

Has Elstone commented at all about why the shift from council guarantee to council funding was deemed necessary and/or preferable?

Hasn't Spurs gotten tax breaks to build the new stadium? Am I wrong? Thought they were released from affordable housing requirements, some of the up front tax commitments, etc. I know they are getting money from the NFL, so that'll help a bit.
Not released from any of that. No special tax breaks. Yes we are getting some money from the NFL but that has nothing to do with state aid...

I wonder who could have given Andy the info to make him so sure?

I wonder. Surely it can't have been a source with @The Esk the most incredible track record of being wrong?

Nobody gives me information, I form my own opinions and my read of the delay in stadium news, the timing of the accounts and then the date of the AGM led me to think that the design would be shown tonight.

I might have been wrong, but my belief now is that with Dan Meis not being at the AGM, maybe they'll bring him over from the US in the very near future and hold another meeting/press conference so he can unveil his design and offer whatever explanations are needed...

And in so doing, keep Everton front and centre in the news.

That's my thinking, not others.

2022 - Four and a half years to secure funding through the Council (at grotesque sufferance to the City), do all the procurement, planning permission, building, finishing etc etc

Surely someone at the AGM there must have thought 'no hang on, that's not possible'.

Or, you've been totally wrong and suggested another poster 'stfu' for suggesting otherwise.

What are you on about?

West Ham got an abomination for free. Which they don't actually own and can't fix. They are stuck in an awful stadium for the forseeable future.

Either way Man City and West Ham came about because of big events that were deemed to benefit the entire country. It's not really the same thing here where it's a stadium just for Everton.

Both us and Arsenal have had to fully fund our stadiums and have had no help from local councils for financing or even guarenteeing loans etc.

So West Ham got a stadium for free. I thought they only paid like 2.5M in rent and taxpayers foot the bill for maintenance, no? Man City got almost 200M because of the Commonwealth games. Soooo...what did I say incorrectly?
