General Meeting 09.01.2018

Just saw two ships coming down the Mersey. One was a pirate ship, the other a luxury yacht, so this would indicate our new stadium plams were indeed correct, and also that Mr Usmanov will indeed be in attendance this evening.

They would cut off any shareholder asking any question that could be considered even slightly awkward. These meetings are held just to go through the motions. There won't be any platform for anyone to ask probing questions.

Think you're wrong there mate.
Questions will be permitted... the salient point is to whom they're directed and whether there are any tangible answers.

Well what we have to work with is the question that needs to be asked!

- Who exactly is responsible for us starting the season without a striker & only one (ageing) Left Back?

- Given the above, what exactly was our “Director of Football” doing all season? Why didn’t we have these players signed up before 1st Jan?

- Who exactly does our transfer negotiations, because it’s quite clear they’re unfit for purpose.

This.

In any other business in the world , to succeed, you put your best people , in their best position, so you can achieve your yearly targets.

This starts at the top, with the CEO, getting the right balance of people around him, all pulling the same way for the benefit of the business.

To meet those targets everybody in its employment need to be performing at their best, right down to the shop floor.

If the business is not set up to succeed , it won't.

At the moment our club does not feel "set up to succeed".

If i was CEO , i would be looking at our recent transfer dealings and asking Mr. Walsh two questions.

1) Why do we have only 1 left back employed at our club?

2) Why did we start September the 1st with no recognised Centre forward?

Anybody performing with the ineptitude of Mr. Walsh would not last 5 minutes in the real business world.

Fail to Plan = Plan to Fail.. It's that simple.

My only issue is I'm not convinced that Walsh is the problem & I think to blame him lets Kenwright off the hook. Remember the pantomime in getting Koeman & Walsh in? Well all negotiation before & since bare the same hallmarks. We don't know Walsh's actual job description or remit. My guess is that Walsh is no more than a head scout (probably a very good one). He's not a DoF. Maybe never had experience of negotiating with Agents. It's not his fault he was given that title, it's the board's. The buck stops with them.

I think most has been covered by Andy and earlier posts.

I honestly don't think we'll get decent answers simply because it's Kenwright & Elstone. It'll be happy clappy , it was a tough start but we're turning it around etc etc.

Hopefully someone is able to ask some pertinent questions though.

  • Who is responsible for the state of the joke that is the communications department? Fan engagement is at an all time low and when it happens it's a joke because it's usually via Jim White who has no official affiliation with Everton Football Club.
  • What does Steve Walsh actually do? Like what is his typical day? Is the job title of 'Director of Football' suitable, from what I can see he is not actually providing any direction to the footballing strategy of Everton.
  • What went wrong in the summer? The manager publicly demanded a striker and left sided defender and the club & Steve Walsh surly failed at that.
  • Is selling the likes of Barkley, Lukaku, Stones, Deulofeu the vision that Moshiri thinks will stop Everton from being a museum?
Lots of questions there that need answering, but, alas, i don't think we will get them.

They will talk about stabilising this season before pushing forward in 2018/19 season, with no reference to the debacle that has been 2017/18 season.

They will talk about a transition period post Koeman.

They will officially welcome Sam aboard and thank him for his work so far.

Then they will stick their collective chests out and spend 2 hours telling us about how we can all look forward to the exciting journey we face as they work towards planning and finalising the move our brand new shiny stadium.

Although with a team languishing in mid table of the premier league season after season, occasionally qualifying for Europe and regularly failing in domestic cup competitions, how the hell they expect to fill it week in week out defeats me altogether.

If you were CEO and that is all you were worried about, I would sack you.
Turnover, profitability, marketing, new stadium.... that is what you should be focusing on.

...I can see Allardyce getting a new contract but I doubt he’ll be in charge if and when the new stadium opens. If he is, he’ll have been a resounding success.

Sam will be dead by the time we move into a new stadium.

It takes us an eternity to finalise a new signing for the team.

Just how long will the move to a new stadium take?

If i was CEO , you couldn't sack me. :bye:

And without a proper team set up on the pitch to succeed ,you can forget about, turnover, profit, marketing and a new stadium.

This.

Very little will be discussed around the situation on the field. It's the job of the board of directors to, well, direct the club behind the scenes.

We are 9th, despite a really bad start. It's neither bird nor fish. Im enjoying the leave of Barkley and Miralles. Big Sam is doing good things, and the team is playing football again, plus we could have won against Liverpool, if the ref was not a covard.

Things are alright
NSNO
If they can’t deliver this they should be at least be seen to be striving for it

Moshiri needs to step up front and centre, clear his throat and state:

"I am profoundly sorry that, in the course of my near two year period in control of this club, I have made matters worse and the club now stands at a low ebb. It was never my intention to bring that state of affairs about, but that is where we are and I recognise that fact and promise to work tirelessly to take the club back to being a respected organisation and competitive force again both in the PL and in our domestic cup programme. My decision making on managerial appointments have, I concede, contributed to that on-field decline. I will also redouble my efforts to strengthen the club's parlous commercial performance - an issue I've been unable to address in any significant way since my arrival. And, lastly, I'd like to take the opportunity this occasion affords me to acknowledge that the stadium plans - though still in play and very much achievable - have fallen behind schedule, and that we need to redouble our efforts to keep our fans informed of developments in a more efficient way."
