£125,000 a week.

Probably just multiplied his previous salary by 10 there. Football hey, what an industry.

That's true but the club have put themselves in this position by having a shocking summer. We're now desperate, we reek of it and he's taking advantage of that, as you would do.

I'm going to support the guy massively, just starting to get very worried about us if this becomes yet another failed transfer.

the rs just shelled out 75m for a centre back mate, united got bent over during the summer on several deals - madrid for moratta and inter did it for peresic - and they walked away from both after about a month wasted by them.

All the clubs in this league are getting messed around now by teams

As for this lad, by everything i have read about him - he's a hard worker, constantly trying to work on improving, and a determined gutsy lad, those will go a hell of a long way to giving him time to show if he's the quality or not

Here is the thing mate.

Who do we go for?

A proven premier league striker - there isn't many around, and when the likes of a 31 year old Giroud would cost 30+m for maybe 1-2 good seasons, or a Vardy would cost 40m now for the same number of years.

Or you try grab a young striker who you 'think' may be ready to break through - say a Iheanacho - who kinda has flopped massively so far, and you'll be paying 20-30m for the likes of him or Dembele say from Celtic

or you buy cheap as you can for someone who has only just broken through abroad - like say a Janssen or a Sandro 0 hmm they kinda didn't work out either.

You try target the likes of a top proven in a top league striker - the likes of Aubamayang, and they'd cost you 60m easy, and 200k pw minimum wages, and thats even if they'd bother picking up the phone without you being a CL poster boy team.

So you are left trying to get the right type of striker at the right type of price, 19-23m for a striker who by all accounts has a good all round game, and who has shown at a higher level (CL that he can score against some pretty good sides).

Yeah we are paying him a decent wedge, but for example how much is Iheanacho on at Leicester, how much is Hernandez on at West Ham, how much is Benteke on at Palace etc etc

over pay for euro crap and give them HUGE wages on a lengthy contract totally undeserving on their merit.

the Everton way

up Everton

How sad is it, that it`s come to this ?

A disgusting stain of a manager at the helm and pinning all our hopes on a relatively unknown lad from the Turkish league.

Only at Everton.

What a mess.

He'll get my full support as with any player pulling on the royal blue mate, I'm just getting worried that the amount of failed punts are adding up and they're all on big wages too. It could get a bit messy if he turns out to be a flop.

Buy from europe - we are overpaying for Euro crap
Buy from the league - having to overpay for proven premier league players

Given i doubt you have ever seen him actually play, and if you're going off youtube clipos of him then you have just seen two goals that won goals of the group stage awards in the CL for two years running, then what you basing it off mate?

Perfectly put Stevon.

Would take a punt on Batshuayi if he's available, but he's a poacher and that's it. Nothing more. So if Cenk is coming in and can do a few jobs, that's fine.

Key is giving him time to settle.

Lol @ people giving a crap what footballers are being paid in 2018. If he turns out to be crap he’s a bad buy sure but if he’s been identified as the right player for us right now it’s all just Monopoly money anyway

I'm going off stats in the Turkish league and who is doing well there, and on who has been a premier league success from turkey..

the besiktas fans have said its taken him 3 years to get to this point in turkey.

he will not get 3 years to get up to speed here, he wont even realistically get 3 months.

I will get behind him , as I do every player or manager. I know I sound very negative, but I cant stand the way we are operating when the league is a wash with money and we are just gambling time and again

just one eyed negative viewpoint on all things everton that we sadly have in our fanbase. Imagine living life and not having the insight of anything remotely positive, but instead always looking for the negatives instead.

Thats the thing though mate, we want Walsh etc to do their job, I would much rather we signed this lad than say a Benteke, Carroll, Walcotte or a Welbeck etc, because i know exactly what they are, they'd cost 20-40m, they'd be sat on 125-150k pw, and that would be much more of a worry.

In the grand scheme of things - 125k pw these days - actually isn't that big a wage anymore, we are signing a lad who is highly regarded and who is at a peak age, i'd be surprised if we got him for much less tbh
