I rate Keane highly, but you need 4 or 5 very good centre backs to be competing in the top half/deal with injuries etc.

For me, that means Keane, Holgate, 2 new lads, and if I'm being charitable Funes Mori. Jags and Williams are done after this season.
Its always nice to be charitable, but maybe not that much. ;)
That said, Funes Mori would be ahead of Jags and Williams if he was fit right now.

Nonsense, Sean is getting older and coming back from a terrible injury. Oveido never really got back from his. Sean has yet to really get into training and get fit, plus to see if that bravery to get stuck in is still there.

All players get on and are supplanted by younger, eager ones coming through exactly as Sean was at Kenny's age.
I was joking mate

We haven't got a player called Sean

Kenny must realise that he has to play like he did last night in every game. His best game for us but hasn't impressed me to much. Last night is the standard he must achieve each and every game. Therefore I am not get carried away with a possible one off.

Excellent last night. Could have been putting in these performances a lot sooner had Koeman not decided to bring in Martina and block Kenny's development over the first 5-10 games.
This in a nutshell. By the time he was given his chance it was in a dysfunctional under performing team with little cover from the midfield and absolutely no leadership from the senior players. The fact that he has come through that period (and he's been up against some very good players in those games) speaks volumes for the lad. Koemans had a stinker here.

If you're expecting that level of performance every week from the lad you're going to have a few disappointments coming your way mate.

Agree completely. That's also one of the frustrating things when people criticise players too early when they're thrown in to circumstances like he was. We have to give some consideration for his inexperience and appreciate the young players need a run of games to at least show what they can do.

He's obviously not the finished article but I can't understand how Koeman felt justified in bringing in Martina and sticking him in every game ahead of Kenny at the start. I understand he wanted extra numbers so can understand to a small extent why he brought Martina in, but he should have started Kenny.

Well if he doesn't then he won't be good enough. It was his best game but I think that was not difficult because I have been disappointed in him previously. His game last night should be his standard and shouldn't dip below that. We have lots of potential at this Club with Kenny, DCL, Lookman, Davies, Beni but they are nowhere near the level just yet. We see flashes from them but that is not going to do us any good short term.

There aren't many players that age playing regularly in the league. Particularly centre mid. They are all showing a lot of promise.

Thats exactly what they are mate. Potential. Getting too much game time really, either because of poor squad building by the management, or senior players grossly under performing
At the moment they arent good enough or experienced enough to show the level and consistency of performance that you're demanding of them. In fact none of our players are.
