Oh he defo had to go in the end. No discipline = not good enough. You cant play good winning football with players taking the piss.

For me though he was easily a more advanced coach than the cave man Moyes and that disastrous Dutchman living off his playing career.

Absolutely no question about that.
But did he have to go?

I think now we should have given him the window to clear out the players who were either finished or trouble makers.

Yes!

It was clear at the time that he was only a few players short. Ageing defence & a calamity keeper. If he’d been given half the money Koeman had, I have absolutely no doubt we’d be challenging top five now.

And I’d take him back.

Not really, moshiri hiring a crap DOF, crap manager, selling our best players and not replacing them....this is what got us here.

Under Martinez at least the attack was sorted, right now our attack, midfield and defence is all crap, having spent a crap load of money to get here.
When Martinez left our attack, midfield and attack were all crap as well. Remember getting hammered by Sunderland? If he’d stayed longer we would have gone down already.

Can’t believe what I’m reading.

Is this a big windup or something?!

Interestingly the players backed by the fans back then as myself and @davek repeated on a daily basis...are still there after downing tools for Martinez.

I don't think they will do that with Allardyce.

It was one game when the team downed tools and the fans and players wanted him gone. The team/squad he left then trounced Norwich.

We are now getting hit for 5 on a regular basis even at home.

We never got to see Martinez with financial backing. Brought in some our best players as well. Such a shame he couldn't change his defensive approach

That's what I kept saying...about the finances.

When he spent decent amounts he bought well, the problem he had was signing cheap players who weren't good enough in the end..he had to take punts.

Id certainly rather have him sign exciting players and attack than the dross koeman served up and signed

Martinez?

Yeah, fully agree. Anyway, he's probably got better things to do now, like prepare for a World Cup assault.
Yep things have worked out great for him.

I don't know if he did. We were one game away from the end of the season. We finished badly the previous year and then were fine at the start of the new year. I have no reason to think it wouldn't be the same the following year.

Ultimately he would have had a summer window to fix the problems and at the end of the day results are the only thing that matters to fans. Had we started well the fans would be back singing the school of science.

I'm not saying anyone was to blame. I also felt it couldn't continue but in hindsight I think we were either premature or late (it should have been done after the derby if at all).
