He came off the bench for England u21s last night in Ukraine and there’s a suggestion that Southgate may call him into the first team squad for the Brazil game. His progression in the 15 months since he joined us has been , well, phenomenal and he must have exceeded his own expectations. Just getting regular starts for England U20s last season was impressive given he came to them as untried with the likes of Abraham, Armstrong, Patrick Roberts, Solanke established at that level ahead of him. Whatever people think of him , there’s a raft of managers who have seen something they like at about him in the past 15 months. At 20 he’s far from the finished product and that’s the exciting bit , we just don’t know how far he can go . He’s not ready to challenge for the England No9 spot yet but it would be interesting if he did get a few minutes game time against Brazil.
