Actually think Unsworth did the right thing taking him and Sandro out of the firing line. Koeman treated them terribly starting them in key games then subbing them and leaving them out. Of course you never know what was said but it’s better for them to have a time out and get eased back in gently

He's better than he's shown, for sure. Looks a completely different player here than at Ajax (and not just because the Premier League is different, has looked devoid of confidence and holding back a lot of his runs and such).

Hope he comes good and shows some of the reasons why he was Ajax Captain and so well liked over there.

Really? I must've dreamt the quick passes he made and in involvement in 5 goals. He's been unfairly labelled as a failure when the truth is, he's played in a shockingly poor team and not one player stood out as anything but poor in those games.

Hmmm interesting choice of words that "involvement" rather than "assist" and I agree with that entirely though I am struggling to think of more than 3 and 2 of those were in one game where one was him trying to trap the ball and it bouncing off his toe in into DCL's path.

But funny we don't apply such generous terms to other players on the field too in which case perhaps Wayne and the Sig would have less of a rough time from the fans too.

Look - No-one has said he is a failure (yet) - my original objection was to him being a "class" player which he clearly isn't by any definition of the word - not even in this amazing blue-tinted, fantastical football-insight-vision some people apparently have.

As a number 10 or anywhere around the midfield he seems to have a lot of very significant disadvantages:

He cant trap the ball (thats noone elses fault)
He cant make simple passes (thats noone elses fault)
He seemingly cant read the game at all (thats noone elses fault and why he is chasing shadows)
He might see the odd magnificent pass, but he cant execute it (thats noone elses fault)
He tackles like a feather (thats noone elses fault)

So in summary, he seems incapable of getting on the ball and when he does he has done nothing with it in 99% of the cases, lets hope those "arriving late in the box" type goals start arriving .... but I think he arrives late because he is slow and just surprises everyone :D

He might turn into a Cahill-esque talismanic hard working hero, but by no definition of the word is there anything resembling class there! Come on!

For one - literally everyone says he's a failure.

Odd how he used to do all these things back in Ajax, but now he apparently can't at all though. Maybe not the tackling, but still.

And "involvement" rings true cuz remember Bainaar? Pienaar had a total of like 5 assists over 2 seasons, but he was always playing the ball that set Baines free to get an assist, if that makes sense, and Baines had like 30 in the same timeframe...
