It's not the 'finding out' of the exact arrangements between Usmanov and Moshiri that's important. There may or may not be more to this than we know. But Moshiri WILL be viewed now as a man with feet of clay. The general view will be exactly that. He's not a player.

How can that in and of itself be "unimportant"?

It will have a knock on effect in how the club can now project itself with a man that wounded calling the shots...or NOT calling the shots, as the case may be.

They're investigative journos mate, have programmes to make, and need to come up with something which people will watch and talk about.

Programmes about "dodgy" foreigners will appeal to the xenophobes in the country, and if you can tie that in to the most popular and financially successful sport in the country then you'll get a fair amount of interest. The very fact that we're discussing it proves this.

I dare say there's an element of truth in the link between Usmanov and Everton, so I don't blame Panorama for highlighting it. As a programme, Panorama is nowhere near as relevant as it was ( I can't remember when I last watched it tbh ), so, to some extent, they're trying to justify their existence.

Spot on there Woolly, they've gone from being the forerunners of investigative journalism to also rans.

If the likes of " Dispatches " was running this, I'd think there was much more to it and be a bit more concerned.

It's weird, but people seem to forget what the M in USM actually stands for.

What will have happened is that the powers that be will have looked to see if we received a sensible amount of money for the sponsorship which was in line with what a club of our size could expect.

Mosh owns a reasonable % of USM, so they'd be checking it out with an eye on the effective owner of the club bankrolling us from his other business interests and also looking at it with a view on the Usmanov angle.

It pushes the boundaries a bit, but there's still ticks in boxes all round. However, some Blues are weird, and want us to be owned by a 100% squeaky clean multi-billionaire, and there ain't no such thing.

Seriously though, I doubt the Everton deal will get more than a few minutes. The Panorama is a two parter (Sunday and Monday) on offshore billionaires and there are plenty of targets for them to get their claws into.

I agree with much of this Steve. The only thing I'd say is it is a big issue, but I sense the issue has long since passed now.

An owner breaching PL rules by having interests in 2 clubs is a big deal. Once the FA/PL passed it, and then didn't kick up a fuss after the sponsorship though, the time to make a big issue of it went.

Once it was passed,any 'issue' there was merely became a footnote in history. Any 'document' Panorama has seen will have been in the public domain in any case. They are implying that this 'document' will imply thatU simply gave M the money to 'buy' 49% of Everton to give him, U, a foothold if ever/when it became possible for U to buy the rest of the shares. The majority percentage currently owned by BK,etc would be sold to Mosh as per the agreement in place,and Mosh would then sell on to U. No laws are broken, and Everton benefit from the availability of U'
's money. 'Interest in two clubs' has to be a firm concrete interest...its not enough to be generous to a mate and secure your position for the future. Its actually more transparent than anything to do with Phil Green ever was!! We move on.

Why would the owner of your club being investigated for being the cats paw of a dodgy Uzbeki *businessman* be a problem when they're in the process of persuading institutional investors that their cash is going to a stable PL organisation?

It's just scaremongering.
