And with no guarantees even then I suspect...

Its a very tough league, I look back to last season when everybody was dismissing 7th as easy, when people considered Moyes getting 5th as nothing, that was then, this is now, this is the 2017 Premier League, every team is rammed full of International players, most teams have a decent manager, the days of home bankers are gone, every point has to be battled for.

Make no mistake, this is now a war, break out the flak jackets.

People do seem to be a little blase over buying a striker in January - like we'll just go to Tescos and pick one up because we need one. We failed to do it over a full 6 months [since whenever Lukaku binned off the contract plus the summer] so you'd really hope that the board have total clarity on what is needed here. Steve Walsh needs to be sweating spinal fluid sorting this one out - he'll have a month to act and every other basket-case club fighting over a limited number of quality players.
I think the first thing we have to realise is we aren't looking for a starter quality striker. We simply won't be able to attract one of them and shouldn't waste our time trying. The reports of Costa etc were madness. I know they were probably just phantom bids but if they weren't then whoever thought we should spend time trying for Costa needs to take a hard look at themselves.

We should be looking at someone like Lucas Perez, Llorente (although he's a bit old) etc. Someone a top 4 team would look to get as a backup.

There are plenty of those playing in Germany, Spain and Italy that would jump at the chance for a premiership payday and with first team football to offer in a World Cup year we should be able to get one with little problem. Then look to strengthen again in the summer.

Personally if it was me I would have done the same thing with our RB position in the summer.

Make no mistake, we WILL buy 2 Strikers in January.

Im not saying they will be top, top drawer, they will be massive gambles, but they only need to be able to hold the freaking ball and provide a focal point, I could do that and I retired abar 10 years ago.

if a young brett angell was in this squad he'd be getting a game, it's that bad, i feel sorry for rhino, koeman has left him no defense or attack

I make you right fella , I suspect we may go for someone like Bakambu .

We also deperately need a centre half

Feed the Goat...

I'll give you my opinion after Sunday's game.
Beat Watford, somehow. Have a fortnight off from the Premier, beat Palace as the team set out to impress the new manager, then it's stability until we get the striker in January then onwards and upwards.

Its utterly shameful that we dont have a single actual Striker in any age group to just come in and do a God damn JOB.

Im being very harsh on DCL, who does have some very good qualities, sadly leading the line like a pro isnt currently 1 of them, it will come, but the lad is 20 years old. Its utterly criminal, we NEEDED a God Striker last season when we had Lukaku, we lose Lukaku and we replace him with what? An utterly finished Wayne Rooney, who is still the best player at the club, but not able to lead a line, Sandro freaking Real Madrid wanted me and im boss on FM Ramirez, who I personally think will come good, if given a run, but currently is AIDS.

If somebody gave me the name of whos ACTUAL fault it is that we dont have a Striker I would do 10-15, I swear down on me cats life fam.

..whilst a quality striker is a definite requirement, I doubt the acquisition of one will solve our ills. The team lacks any cohesion and creativity in the top third. A striker would be welcome but only as part of productive team model.

Think they have to be better than those two, although they'd have to be considerably better or at least different than our current options. Shouldn't be hard to find a target better than DCL. Sandro looks bad, but has hardly been given a chance. Rooney keeps coming too deep, but we've yet to see him play with Siggy and some true attacking options like Lookman and Vlasic.

Regardless, the question is still whether or not we are in a relegation battle. I think the bigger reason why we may be in one is the lack of a CB. We've got one decent player who's been banged up. There's really no other option.

Evening Toffee, its the glue that binds.

Its the 1 glaring thing missing from our team, its football 101, all teams feed off the number 9, its the basis of life.
