This Vlasic story just goes to show how Koeman, Rooney and Moshiri, in particular, have added a bit of tacky showbiz to our club, when all we want is to just have a hard working successful team, which has a good business to it. Of course the Prem is now more entertainment than sport, with all the money and image rights etc, and the players with their own voice on twitter, but we seemed to be the only old fahioned (in a good way) club around, strong community links, etc. Thats all unrealistic for the longterm, but even if this is a 'franchise' style EPL, then we need support, and one way is to be an authentic, local club that values young players, hard work and drive. I think Vlasic - from his early interviews and performances - does embody that 'EFC Spirit' that we think we have.
No manager will ever match all of our expectations, but when we thought Koeman didnt' have shape, wingers, attacking ideas, but he did like Vlasic, now we see Unsy doesn't like Vlasic, but has shape, ideas, but no tactics...oh dear.
Whether it's for football or modern entertainment money reasons, being 'authentic' and rewarding hard working young players, keeping hold of older, wise heads as coaches or captains, and having that 'Dave hickson - quote' spirit, that's all we need! (But not headed by Sam Allardyce please)
As for football playing style - it is easy to have a pacy, attacking flair with a strong defence. We just need a couple of decent coaches.
