Koeman: Owner support not changed

I don't think he will go just yet, Moshiri has already revealed there are games he expects us to lose, I imagine he doesn't feel we can beat Arsenal or Chelsea. So why would you sack the manager when he does what you expect him to do, lose against top 6 teams.
However we require more money to be spent on players over the January window, given our last purchases will he want Koeman and Walsh spending more millions. It is one thing coming out and saying you support the manager, it is another thing to give him 10s of millions after he has frittered away £150 million.

Ever since we joined the Sky media Premier league we have been nothing like a top club in all honestly, mainly due to not being able to capitalise and push on from when we have have good seasons. Unfortunately even spending more than ever, hasn’t changed this.
It's amazing when you think we were prime movers in the creation of the PL . The truth is we have been in inexorable decline since John Moores died. Our failure to establish a presence in Europe , or even regularly compete, means in the modern hierarchy we are a second tier club and always have been . It galls me that Villa for all their travails are able to sport one of those pesky stars and Forest ,thanks to the best manager in my lifetime ,have two for gods sake.
We have a mighty big mountain to climb, and we've been stuck in the foothills for two generations now.

Here's I how I see it: a loss to Arsenal on Sunday will have fans in an uproar; Everton will then be playing midweek at Chelsea down there. If we get knocked out Koeman will be summoned to a meeting and sacked.

That's what I think will happen as well.

Obvioulsy I'd rather we win both games, I'm not bothered about Koeman at this point but we've still got enough of the season to get back up there and I certainly don't want us out of another cup after last night.

Another great post from you and so right ........but Champions 1914-war breaks out............Champions 1939-war breaks out ......Champions 1985- Kopites break out ....Everton that !;)

I suppose the main point is that RK was given lots of money which he spent however wisely/unwisely but what we are seeing on the pitch is clearly not working. He may have wasted £150M or he may have bought some gems but he is not managing themefficiently in the EPL or in Europe.

I have a large team to manage - nearly 100. We are responsible for a lot of public expenditure ( enuff said!!! :) ) I hope that their excellent performance year after year reflects a little bit of what I am doing but I would not dare to claim the credit for all that they do.

I am a tolerant, patient man, and have supported EFC through thick and thin since I was able to walk in the late 60s.....I will die happy having been at the Bayern match.

However, this is not working and needs to be halted quickly or we will be dragged into a relegation fight. We just about escaped in 94 and 98 and I really do not want to go through that again.

I'm sorry , but when were we ever one of the greatest clubs in Europe? I ask not in a snide way but I think that is our major failing as a club, we never established ourselves as habitual contenders let alone winners for what has evolved into the apex of club football. Apart from one cup winners cup we've one nothing in Europe. That is very sad for club with our aspirations. We have never been bracketed with Real Madrid, Milan, Bayern Munich et al. That is the measure of the challenge that faces us and I think we currently lack the finances and the will to truly make an attempt.

We could have been mate. We could have.

But don't get me started, I don't want to sound like one of dem bitter bluenoses (like)

I know of the incident to which you are alluding, and like you I was filled with bitterness and still am , to an extent. But the biggest failing in that period was our own. We failed to maintain or build on our success ,so that when the ban ended we were in a position to challenge again. Other clubs did , we failed to. We stopped challenging for the title and haven't since.

And the most galling thing of all Eggy is that when we had a team capable of being crowned European Champions we were denied it through no fault of our own :(

And to think I used to write Jesus Christ Is An Evertonian on the sides of bus shelters :pint2:

God turned his back on us long since.

Just admitted to resting players for a must win game. What is worrying is that lineup last night was closer to what people want than his 'first choice' 11. The man is all over the place currently. Get ready for Schneiderlin Gueye Siggurdson Rooney and DCL wide on Sunday.

This. He finally played a team that had some attacking threat against lyon , but clearly thats not his style. So back to his usual defensive set up with no pace team against arsenal then.

Khalekan,

Yes we were the best team in Europe in May 1985 but I don't think we can blame God for the mess that we are in now.

Without getting too theological, we all have free will - that is a key part of the Christian belief. The fact that an individual(s) does/do not perform to the OPTIMUM is not the fault of God, it is simply human failing.

Did I pray at half time against Bayern in the LGS End - you can be assured I did. Did God decide to give us the win? Did He keep us up in 94 and 98? I am unsure whether His intervention or pure human effort were responsible.

In simple terms, we as a club are currently responsible for the mess we are in. Clive Thomas etc etc are human failings - I know that God is on my side, but I will not trouble Him with prayer for this mess to be fixed.
