Well the manager had a two week break in the sunshine. Let's hope that's given him time enough to reflect on where we're going wrong this season and rectify it against (the very underrated, imo) Chris Hughton's men.

Listening to that dour press conference just now though it seems the conclusion reached is that it's not down to playing too narrow or leaving out pace or playing three #10s, it's because we had two EL qualifiers.

Hopefully the players haven't deduced from those words it's best not to aim for the CL and get stuck in the EL.

As you know i'm sometimes a bit too positive with Everton things, but I have zero faith we will get a shot on target on Sunday let alone a win. And his words did nothing to improve my mood.

Maybe we'll get a nice surprise but I wouldn't fancy us against anyone in the Premier League right now...and probably only about 3 teams in the Championship.

Not for me mate. I see the players we have at our disposal and those at their disposal and there really is no comparison. In just about every position we are superior and I expect a win. It just takes a game plan to expose a very open team who can barely score themselves (5 this season).

In other words, as per usual non if it is down to him.

Using the Europa games as an excuse is just lazy and also predictable.

If he picks his usual two defensive mids and as many number 10's as he can get on the pitch as possible again, he should be put on a boat and dropped into the English Channel.

If he changes how we play and we lose i'm willing to give him more time, stick with the same silliness and its out!

I dont think he'll dispense with two defensive CM ever. Some managers like playing that way, but if you do then you have to make sense of it by having very good wide men who can give you a lot of attacking options. I just think he's overly cautious and plays to keep it tight.

It's no wonder he punted Deulofeu immediately and hardly ever plays Lookman...who I think we can safely say now was a Walsh inspired acquisition. He was behind Bolasie arriving at the club I reckon, but Bolasie is a player who gets behind the ball a lot too.

It has to be more than change though. Thats the least I'd expect after two months worth of smashing his head against the wall and getting nothing from his orthodox game plan.

He has to change the starting line up and maybe formation AND he has to make the right in-game decisions and motivate these players from the sidelines. That's where the games will be won or lost, and this one will be no different. He needs to find some appetite for this job or he's finished.
