Summer Transfer Window 2017

I hope we can get something done, who would have thought after our blistering start to the transfer window that we would have been hanging on for deadline day, for a striker no less, the position we knew needed filling months ago.

Come on Walshy/Koeman, pull a rabbit out of the hat.

Surely there are options in Europe for strikers instead of players in the prem, being linked with okaka and the likes surely a punt on a player abroad would be worth the risk than settling for players who we know are already limited in the prem? Thinking bas dost, bakambu etc

Disagree back. My post isn't about idiots or getting excited. They're your words not mine. It's about perceptions and how they are affected by our emotions. IMO, had we made all those transfers in the last week, most fans current mood would have been more upbeat than it is currently (mine included by the way), and that would reflect on their perception of the window. That's my opinion. If you don't agree with it that's fine. But no need for the accusations that I'm treating you all like idiots, which your post suggests. In any event, the descriptive word I used was "decent". Look it up and you'll see words like, passable, adequate, average etc. Not exactly over praising am I?.

I fully agree with you about not replacing Lukaku though. No excuse for it and now so little time to do much about it either. It does make the starting XI weaker than last season for the reasons you say, but the squad overall has improved with 3 of the 4 key positions identified at the start of the year being addressed with high quality players.
Think you're being a little over sensitive there mate, I wasn't criticising you, or accusing you of anything, just saying that it annoys me when people suggest that fans are only capable of judging the window based on its last week. It is used a lot, and I just don't agree.

I think the fact that the forum has been full of people debating which striker we were going to get, and getting increasingly concerned as we got closer to the start of the season, suggests that the timing of our business has little to do with people's perception of the window.

Dear Bedwetters,

Over the summer we have strengthened all across the first team squad, our under 23 squad and for the future.

Now Lukaku left, he is a future World Class striker who went for £90m. To replace him, we would need to spend north of £60m which we don't have because (wait for the net spend meffs to jump in) spend money all over the squad not just in one position and we have upped our wages to buy better quality players in.

But we knew Lukaku was going, yes we did and we bought players in before the market went stupid. We had targets in Giroud who for some reason decided to stay with Arsenal where he hardly plays so is this the type of ambitious player we want.

We have been linked to every striker under the sun and we shouldn't got someone in earlier but that's the market.

Look at Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and Them, they are all over the place in terms of targets and are throwing money to grab anyold squad player to please the fans.

We still have to shift Barkley, McCarthy and Niasse on which I believe will happen and we will bring in our targets, left centre back and striker plus a few extras.

Not stop the dummy spitting and just look at what we have - Pickford, Keane, Gueye, Schneiderlin, Rooney, Sandro and Sigurdsson. We would never dreamt of these players 5, 10, 15 years ago.

Everton need a new approach and the team will achieve this but if our own fans knock every step we try and take, why bother supporting us?

Go buy a PSG top and update your Kodi boxes losers!

Honestly. Dreadful post.

Many are showing the appropriate level of concern

Even the post that started this off didn't say we needed to pay £50m, just that we needed someone of £50m quality.

However, to get someone of £50m quality, you will need to pay £50m.

It's also more than likely that those strikers of perceived £50m quality won't join Everton because we're not at the top table.

Matic went to United for £40m, "a bargain" was the collective opinion. Even had we been interested, Everton would not have been an option. Why?There is a tiered market;

  • Global Mega Brands
  • Champions League Teams
  • Aspirational Champions League Teams
  • The rest

We are in the third tier. We may pick up the odd top tier player at the end of their career. Or the odd 2nd tier player may see some value in first team football, a decent wage and the Everton 'project'. Until we can make the step up; we're not buying from that marketplace. We'll have a look, maybe have a go; but it's always a long shot.

Get the best of the 3rd tier in, have a real good go at moving up a level - that's what we need to attempt. It opens the market up for us.

So - a new striker will be a prospect or acquired from a peer. We aren't going to replace Lukaku with 2017 Lukaku. We'll replace Lukaku an equivalent of the 2013 Lukaku we signed on loan from Chelsea and attempt to cover the shortfall of goals from our other signings.

Who? God knows.

They were an 80's pop group consisting of 4 ordinary women, sadly their careers didn't go the way they planned and they ended up making low budget porn movies and specialised in water sports, this set them up perfectly for a lifetime of dealing with their Evertonian sons.

The lead singer, Deloris, once commented that their porn exploits helped them recognise when a man was about to release the contents of his bladder and it allowed them to spot the signs in their own sons as transfer deadline approached, thus they were able to mop up piss before it even hit the sheets. Deloris has estimated a saving of at least £32.80 in washing powder as a result of this talent.
Any links mate?.

No, on second thoughts...
