Going from Lukaku to Slimani is akin to going from Knightsbridge to Luton. You seem to think there's no centre or choice in the entire world.
Anyone calling slimani better than even DCL (whose had 1-1.5 decent games) is wrong. That's a fact and backed up by stats which show him to have one motm award to slimani having zero in this league in how many games....
Love the hyperbole Zat but that doesn't change the fact that we're operating under constraints as far as getting another striker of similar quality in.
Shall we go back down memory lane and remember the only reason we ever got a player of his quality was because we loaned him originally and he couldn't oust the players ahead of him at his parent club, he had a successful loan and wanted to start somewhere and we had just finished 5th and looked to be on the rise.
We've since finished 7th, we already have two strikers meaning that there will be competition for places so it is unlikely we will look to reproduce what happened with Lukaku and sign a promising young player who can't get an opportunity at his current club because unless they offer something very different or are better than Sandro and Rooney at what they offer then some youngster is not going to be getting guaranteed starts here and would probably look elsewhere.
We're looking for a finished product of a player now, we've got promise in DCL but we need someone to come in and do the business for us today.
Lukaku was a once in two decades type of striker for us and we were lucky he chose to sign with us. I'm sure we've got the money for the right type of player but there doesn't seem to be a lot out there fitting what we want:
- Good goalscoring numbers
- Good in the air
- Experienced
- Wants to come to us rather than hedge their bets and wait for a CL team
Find someone matching those qualities and let Walsh know. You can spend all day and night talking about Dolberg but it is a waste of time if he wouldn`t be willing to come here.
