100% agree. I never was really excited about him

but now I am

If your looking at your Heskeys, Altidores, Coles and Zamoras big Vic has showen he has the potential to be as good and very possibly better then the afore mentioned.

We is also more versatile and has impressed on the right flank, another option.

Must be me, as I'm sure I'm missing something here. Never rated Anichebe and still don't. Hope to be proven wrong though

I would have agreed this time last year mate, but i thought he excelled since coming back looked an absolutley terrific player prob bar Mikel our best in the closeing stages of the season.

Looked stronger, faster stroger more tacticaly adept and his finishing seemed very much improved. Very difficult player to play against, their was a 30 min period against Brum away he was unplayable.

In this entire thread I will discuss two things.

Altidore, maybe as a squad player on a nominal fee, although what I've seen of him he's not got anything in his locker - like Donovan - that truly makes him a standout player. Therefore I think that Alitdore if he did (in a remote sense of the word) come here he wouldn't be like-for-like for Yakubu as he's just not that good.

As for Vic, yes I've seen when he's running with the ball towards goal, he's some player. His judgement is off though, he passes when he should run, and he runs when he should pass. He also makes some really weird decisions.

But yes. For us - he could be a potent weapon, as he showed against Villa last season and glimpses this season, when he's focused and running with the ball he takes some stopping.

He really needs to show us more though - in his alround game

He is a shithouse, and never fully gives enough for me - that game against bolton when he went down like a sack of [Poor language removed] and went to hospital???? he was fit for the next game as well!! - not a personal attack like, but the lad is about 6ft and 13stone? he plays like a wimp.

Jesus wept.

In 2 years hes scored 2 goals.

Im gonna say this as nice as possible, but, hes really, really, really [Poor language removed].

In two years he's played upfront twice in the 15 odd starts he's made for us.

Great argument that Goat, well done.

If people can't see the improvement Victor Anichebe's made over the last few years then there either blind or brain dead.

Brian mate, you heard about Shane Duffy?

Well internal bleeding is a real risk in collisions like that - and even in less collisions bruising to the intercostal muscles around the ribs (as well as the possibility of fracturing ribs) means that they can be amongst the most painful.

As when you breath there is movement in them and this movement creates pain after an impact. Its how players get "winded" and cannot get their breath back.

Have seen it before - usually someone in that situation actually has to be given oxygen.

I agree - Vic lacks focus. And needs to sort his head out

But calling him over that... nah mate. Sorry can't allow that. Genuine painful - similar to that you'd get in a car crash (just like Duffy had except he had a bleed).

Yeah they can be back quick - with analgesics and anti-inflamatories if theres no fracture... but if you kick someone in the chest 9/10 they're not going to be able to play on if they've bruised their intercostal muscles

This is a thread about Altidore, thus my comments were about him.

I agree, Big Vic has improved loads, that chip on his shoulder has grown HUGE.

You rate him, personally the sooner he fcuks off to somewhere like Stoke the better for me.

He has the some of the things needed to succeed, pace and strength, sadly he lacks the 1 vital thing, a will to win.

Jozy isn't [Poor language removed]. Would he be good for us? Ever since his loan to Hull, I don't think so. It seems like he plays a lot better for USA than he does for his club teams. He does have potential but I wouldnt waste the very small amount of money we have on him.

From a US perspective.....Everton/Moyes would be great for Jozy's growth, but from an Everton perspective, the reverse is not true

I have a lot of hope for Jozy, but he has much work to do
