Why's that mate?.

Serious question. I've used the term a couple of times myself re Martina referencing his close resemblance to a clown in a football kit. Having just fallen foul of the mods through my own naivety I don't want it to happen again.

It's racist to assume that clowns can not play football.

Some of them are quite flexible (Have you seen how many of them can fit into a car?) and may be useful players.

Both perm. Just passing on what I've been told.
How reliable is your source mate?

If it turns out to be true I'll start to question where we're going as a club. Things clearly aren't right within the academy and I've heard whispers of Unsworth being unhappy too.

I really think we have the opportunity this year with a relatively small squad to start giving first team exposure in the EL.

Surely part of the job of an academy is bring players through for us to use, also to have some sell on value if not good enough to go into the senior team.

So in this instance, if this is true, why would you question something if it is doing what it is supposed to?

Edit: Also, Davies has come through from the academy, we have bought in Lookman, Holgate and DCL who are all young players.....your post suggests to me to be going back to the lines of Koeman not trusting the young ones again, which is a theory he blew away last season completely.

Why do we seem to be going back down that track again? Confusing!

Maybe, just maybe they are not as good as we would like them to be.

Well I suppose Cuco showed good flexibility when laying on that assist for Genk. His first assist in a blue shirt. Can't wait to see how many goals he scores.

They've done their parts more than adequately when called upon though?

If connolly and kenny both went on a perm, why in the world did we only loan pennington who was pants?

And why are we leaving ourselves bare thin in the full back positions.

Be fuming if this turned out to be true

Spot on.

They've done their parts more than adequately when called upon though? - Kenny and Connolly both played in a game against a relegated side in an end of season fixture. Maybe they aren't actually kicking on and I suppose we have to just trust the manager on that one.

If connolly and kenny both went on a perm, why in the world did we only loan pennington who was pants? - Maybe Leeds only wanted a loan

And why are we leaving ourselves bare thin in the full back positions. - One can only assume that this will be addressed with new additions.

So if Cuco, Holgate, and even Tom Davies make better RBs right now, would anyone seriously have a problem with loaning out Kenny? What if Coleman went that far off?

I will say this, I was not overly impressed at his u20 woirdmcup performance, although some here declared him ready to be slotted into the starting 11.

We all want academy players to succeed and make the senior team, fact is though most of them don't. Loans are a great way of seeing if they have the aptitude for a full season of competitive football. They will either sink or swim, let's hope if he does go it is the latter and comes back ready for the first team squad next season.

Understand your points but why play kenny/connolly in pre season, let them show they are solid and bin them off?

Edit: @Thomasc

Lennon played pre-season mate but won't get near the first XI either and is probably on the way out, they have to play them all for fitness.

Agreed. This isn't a bad thing. U23 games are very different than Championship side games. Why on earth would you not want to see if a kid can play at a level close to the big club before you plug him in if you can?

Kenny is not the tallest, which maybe part of the reason Koeman doesn't play him (he may yet) as much as we thought he would , with Baines on the other side and Gana in midfield we would have three short guys to "hide" at set pieces.
Yes but Kenny is very good in the air for his size, which is why he played at centre half for U18's.
