It's a bit early yet isn't it to make a judgement on Klaassen? It will take him time to adjust to the english league. When he does though he will be a seriously effective performer for us. @Zatara You don't seem to rate him fair enough. But for someone who claims to have an up close knowledge of Ajax then you of all people should know that Klaassen was a crucial cog in the Ajax machine, and was one of their most important players these last few years.

Sadly at the age of 24, as far as Zat is concerned thats it, his career is over.

Zat didnt bother watching the game on Thursday, thats the issue.

Maybe he should watch the highlights instead. He will see our first 4 opportunities were either from passes by Klaassen, or his own good run and shot(missed wide). The 5th opportunity we had he would have scored had Rooney not panicked and fluffed his shot, great run. Then later he made a great run on Mirallas shot(Cant fault Mirallas for taking it though), and on Sandros breakaway.

He knows how to get himself in good positions to score. Once his teammates figure that out, look out.

I don't not rate him, I don't know if he can handle the pace and close marking of the prem or step up to the level we need.

Who does?

Your first comment is a lie.

You Sir, are a scoundrel.

what after 1 game? you think so? hmmm i'm not sure.

(turns sarcastic engine back off)

I don't think anyone is knocking this signing. @orly has been one of the most negative but I think he's waiting to 'see something' from Klaassen as at the moment we've seen a couple of passes and then runs towards the box which James McCarthy could have done.

I've seen this boy play a fair amount for Ajax and to be honest it's going to take a lot to step up to the league where he will get no time and no space. Also, playing with Gana and Schneiderlin he wont be the one to act as a creative outlet. Klaassen is just a team player who will play short quick passes to team mates and make runs into the box...he's not a 'wow' type player.

I'd have preferred Tielemans or someone who could have been our 'wow' type player...

Sorry but no. McCarthy has never shown anything like the one touch ability Klaassen demonstrated in the first half. Even against similar standard of opposition.
