tbf his offsides stats are almost identical to rom's over the last 3 seasons. they tied for two of the three and benteke was offside one more time than lukaku in the other. Didn't rom cover the least ground out of anyone last season?

we all thought we wouldn't be able to attract someone the same calibre as rom ... we obviously can!

hahaha behave. God, this forum, honestly. Everytime we get linked with a player fans don't like, why do half of those poeple label them as gash and championship level at best? The guy has been leading the line of the no. 1 international team in the world over the last few years and has scored a 1 in 2 ratio in the prem.

this summer has hardly made our club's support look knowledgable, it must be said. I read yesterday that williams was our worst signing ever. we used to buy players like bloody carl tiler on a regular basis!

I don't want Benteke. I don't rate him, and beyond that, what is even the point of footy absent irrational tribalism? Without that, the league would be closer to nine teams than to ninety-two. No reds, please, former or current.

But I still agree with you completely. If we're to start throwing real money around all of a sudden, let us at least be gentleman about it.

Our fans use hyperbole to make their points. Benteke is a good player that will cost a lot of money. He isn't perfect, but he would be a great fit with Sigurdsson.
 

Christian Benteke scored an average of 1 goal every 2 matches at Villa and his goalscoring record at Crystal Palace has been similarly impressive. Yes, he only bagged 10 when he was at the RS but that's because Deirdre Barlow hardly ever played him.

Very few strikers who were born in the 1990s have already scored over 60 goals in the Premier League and a dozen goals for their country. Christian Benteke has.

He's also much better in the air than Lukaku.

If we can get him for half of what Man Utd paid for Lukaku, I say go for it.
 
To get the best from him I think we'd have to have a very specific way of playing planned, with him in mind.

He's a good player who'd get 15-20 and perhaps even more, played in the right system, but there are others I'd take before him.

His time at Liverpool has put me off him a bit. Really wanted him when he was at Villa like.
