Gerard Deulofeu

Oooh key passes.

They mean NOTHING.

Pretty good indicator of attacking quality on the whole. Even moreso from open play. Still doesn't mean he'd be good in a Koeman team. I'm just an unashamed fanboy and your cynicism can never touch my ironplated love.

It's still really bizarre, I hope one day we get the full Deulofeu story, Koeman loves a good cross and Del is probably top 5 in the league in that regard.

No probs with being a fan boy, I get it, but the statistic is an utter nonsense. Look at the absolute state of some of those other "stats". "Bad control"?

Some players just don't adapt to the English game. Aspas is another player who couldn't cut it in England but plays well in Ia Liga, Soldado etc.

Still utterly baffles me.

What you see is what you get, a player who wont help the team at all from a defensive aspect, but a dangerous player who creates.

5 managers have all deemed his + to not be worth his -.

Very strange.

I know you like your stats. Here's some fascinating ones on El Misterio.

This is from the guy who builds statistics models for clubs. The further the coloured part of the radar is to the edge, the better the stat - if it's touching the edge, then they're in the top 5% of players in that position. Each band represents another 10% of players (so if they're hitting the second furthest band, they're in the top 15%, etc.) Essentially what this means is that Del's raw creative output is OUTRAGEOUS.

And we have a manager whose favourite phrase for the last 6 months is that 'we need more productivity, we need more output, we need more numbers'. There is something VERY weird going on, and it isn't down to workrate or stamina, anyone who actually watched him play for us in the first half of the season could tell you that, he was tracking back and closing down goalkeepers. It's something much more weird and interesting and I'd love to know what it is. He also changed his game entirely when told to stop shooting at crap angles and start assisting. So who knows? Maybe he's just utterly thick tactically and trying to get him to play a system is impossible? Maybe his dog is incredibly annoying?

We'll find out soon enough if he's heavily involved pre-season. I suspect Koeman isn't blind to his ability or potential but maybe he's just a luxury the rest of the team can't make up for YET. Possibly when he gets a team in his image the collective work rate will allow us to include Del in the starting XI.

I think the fact he has the fitness of a 40 year old on 20 a day and constantly throws himself on the ground and then appeals like he didn't just dive every time gets on managers nerves. I still love him like but Koeman won't stand for anyone unfit.

I still maintain that you can tell he worked on his fitness hugely when Koeman came in, and that it must be something else. In his last appearances here and during his time in Milan he had perfectly decent stamina, for a sprinter/winger anyway.

Edit: hell, we're supposedly looking at Mahrez who tracks back even less than Del.
