Yeah I agree & I'd like a home grown core too - if they're good enough.

What I was saying is that if you've got an academy lad with the ability to reach jagielka/Williams levels (very good) but have the chance to sign a lad with terry/Ferdinand ability (outstanding), get them in and 'cockblock' away.

My thinking,. we have squad with loads of holes, fix the areas that are weakest first.

IMO, Dowell is the best player at the club in terms of vision and technique. Even now.

It's criminal others are getting games and he's out in the cold. The lads a superstar in the making.

Even though both Unsworth and Dowell himself stated that he's struggled massively this season, only coming to form in the past couple of months.

The lad is very gifted but you have no idea if he's ready for the first team

Soft lad admitted himself not long back that he's only ever seen him play TWICE

would you rather keep him over Barkley Dave?

Not fishing either, i honestly haven't seen the lad enough to have a strong opinion
Yes. He's that good, IMO.

I think he'll get hardly any playing time from Koeman though. Hopefully he keeps in the fold and whoever succeeds Koeman recognises the talent.

He had an injury then when fit he was locked out of first team affairs.

In pure talent terms this lad is the best we have. No question in my mind.

I've seen enough. Kenny and Dowell are both easily good enough for our first team. Certainly Id have them in there before Calvert-Lewin and Pennington who Koeman has handed game time to.

Coleman + Kenny is all we need, IMO.

I'm sorry, are Kenny and Dowell playing the same positions as those guys? No.

They were pressed into the first team out of need.

I love Dowell as much as anyone and believe his vision and technique are excellent, BUT he's playing behind Ross, Davies, and even to some extent, Morgan and Gana. Should he play in front of any of these guys?

I also think we are getting a bit carried away with Kenny. He may indeed start, he may be better than Cuco, but I think his U20 performances are being pretty overblown. He has been very good, definitely good for a U20 world cup, but has not been perfect. The EPL is a completely different beast.

I also in no way, shape, or form endorse Cuco. But he's cheap, he can play both backs even if he was just RB this past year, and buys down risk at that position. Say what you want about Kelly, he'd be a risk and the idea of handing him that position without a backup - and Coleman isn't going to be ready tomorrow - is way too risky without any fall back plan.

Dave, again you admitted to only seeing him TWICE, others see him regularly for the U23. He's not being frozen out/overlooked, he simply isn't consistent enough at his own level to convert that into playing Premier League football, neither is Calvert-Lewin for that matter but the big difference between the two is one has better quality ahead of him, the other got pushed ahead because the back ups were a panic buy loan and a £6m waste of space your hero brought in.

You said yourself you've barely watched the youth players so how have you seen enough?

Dowell is a different player to those you mention. The lad is unique in our squad.

Kenny is plainly a full back born to the role. As Colemans understudy he is ideal.

Just save our money looking for players in their positions and plough it all in elsewhere.

I've seen him more than twice now. If anyone watches that lad play for more than a handful of times and still can't see what we have they know f.a. about football.

Guess Unsy should resign then seeing as, you know, he works with him on a regular basis

Unsworth is nothing but fullsome in his praise of him and his potential within the game. No need for him to resign. I wish he was manager tbh.

Well in that case we dont need to add any players, because Ive seen 3+ great games with my eyes from Del, Kev, Ross, Jags, Williams, etc.

Any reasonable person knows everyone who gets to that level has talent. But its consistency that separates the chaff, and is what makes players like Del, Kev and Ross so frustrating and not good enough.
