Well this has been answered many times mate. At the start of the season he was poor , picked up in the middle and in fairness has played well in the last few months . He's got a sublime left foot that we all know about , but has rarely imposed himself like he did regularly last season. A great platform for him tonight , hope he takes it , and it will be am interesting comparison between him and the more industrious but less sublime Joe Williams who of course has made re cent first team squads.

Sounds like you know quite a bit about this group of players.

I've seen Dowell about twice and I dont need to see any more than that. He's class. I'd want to know why if I were him why every other kid seems to be getting a break and he hasn't.

He hasn't shown the workrate just yet to fit Koeman's requirements. Talent is fine, effort isn't yet but he's getting there.

Ok , you'll get a good chance tonight to form more opinions. Forget about the DCL comparison , different types of players , compare him tonight with Williams and the other very busy , hard working midfielder Harry Charsley , again not as talented as Dowell. Don't get me wrong I'm not anti Dowell , just doesn't spointed really that he hasn't kicked on with his talent and would be happy if he's MOM tonight . Post your views on him afterwards , even given the fact that 5 people on GOT can give 7 different opinions we should get a consensus.

Tbh Dave, amd I say this as someone who really wants Dowell to succeed as we both hail from Ormskirk, when watching the U23 game you can see why Williams has been on the bench rather than Kieran.

I've seen a few u23 games recently and, for me, the most promising player is Beni Baningime.
He's still only 18, eligible for England, but only has one year left on his contract.
Needs a new contract soon and it would be great to see him get a taste of first team action. We have a lot of DM's so it won't be easy but he seserves a chance.
