It's as if some of you have never even met Everton.

June is for unrealistic speculation, July, be prepared for being strung along by greasy agents, insulted by crooked continental club presidents and ultimately making a monumental balls of if. August = panic.

September for excuses and revisionism.

post of the year.

mods - please sticky this now.

We need-
A couple of top strikers, a creative number 10', one or two fullbacks, a couple of young, talented centre backs, a couple of speedy wingers, that can put in a cross when needed and a top quality keeper.
Making a list is easy, filling it, won't be...and not because we don't have the cash to purchase and pay the players. Thanks to Moshiri, we are no longer a selling club. Top players will be paid top dollar, wherever they play. Money won't be the main reason players choose or reject us. Everton, at present, is a mid table team, and as such, will not be all that attractive to every player we contact.
Walsh will have to earn his paycheque big time next window.

Well, you need to take into consideration the fact that he plays for genuinely one of the worst sides i've seen on the PL. They scored 25 goals ALL season, and Defoe had a hand in 16 of those, considering the kind of support he has over there, i dont think its unrealistic to expect that he could put in good numbers at Goodinson, but like i said, its only a good deal if he is signed as back up IMO, too old to be a starter for any team realistically expecting to challenge for top 4, which im not sure you guys will be next season if all the teams strenghthen as expected and you lose players like Lukaku.
Somebody will fail to strengthen. Remember when Arsenal needed a defender and keeper to win the league? And look at how many players City rely on that were prominent during their first title. The real risk is us not strengthening

We arnt really, we are clear of the teams below us and are in Europe.

I'd still like us to go in for Harry Maguire I think he's horribly underrated by some. It's probably the Chelsea game that sticks in my head as he gave one of the best defensive displays I've seen from anyone anywhere all season. Was impressive at Goodison too.

He's a unit and more of an old school defender which probably isn't popular in this day and age. The flavour of the month is your John Stones type of defender who can fancy dan on the edge of his own box and pass it out from the back but I've always preferred a centre half who first and foremost can actually defend!

Like Michael Keane he will also have a year left on his contract this summer so he's definitely attainable. I'd love a VVD or Koulibaly as much as anyone but are they realistic? Dangerous game to be chasing one of them all summer only to ultimately not get them whilst the likes of Maguire and Keane have long since been snapped up by someone else.

We need two centre backs really so I'd make sure we signed one of Keane or Maguire quickly, and then chase one of the more ambitious targets as at least we'd already have one in the bag.

You mean the same guy who was at the heart of a defence in a 4-0 defeat. He out-muscled Lukaku a few times during the game but so does nearly every CB he plays against considering his size. BTW Lukaku the man he was trying to stop that day scored 2 goals. I really dont think thats impressive.

..I don't particularly have a view on Maguire but I understand from a very good source that his attitude is 100% commitment to his football and his football team. I appreciate that doesn't confirm he's good enough to move us on but there are no issues with the lad himself.
