Enner Valencia

nearly got an assist for lukaku

guy is clever at getting into the gaps

should have had an assist really, simple pass along the floor it should have been, but he's the best player to link up with rom we have in the squad imo. We have to improve that aspect in the summer.

I don't rate his ability to be honest

I cannot question his endeavour or work rate, they're top notch, but I can't help but think had that been del putting the cross in we'd be 1-0 up now (that or del would have shot instead of crossed and I would have fumed as it went out)
I think if you look back you'll see Azpilicueta got a touch on it. Otherwise it was a perfect cross going right onto Rom's head, that's why Rom was putting his hands to his face.

Also Rom didn't bust a gut to get further forward so Valencia had to put it in the air as that was the only option Rom gave.

I think the fact that he was the deadline day signing has colored most people's opinion on his contribution this season.

Rom was also a deadline day signing

I think people don't rate enner because he isn't very good

Since you couldn't or wouldn't get what I was driving at, Enner was the deadline day signing when everyone talked up our ability to get big business done. Rom wasn't signed in that context.

He isn't a good player, when he was signed or the "context" of the signing circumstance is irrelevant

It's an entirely fatuous argument that holds no water

Has he had the odd good performance?

Yes, but if we want to be a top team then he isn't worth 12 million as a squad filler when we have young lads like Lookman and DCL who can still get better

The fact he came in on deadline day has nothing to do with it

I agree totally that Enner is not what we require as a starting player.

But IMO to say he was our liveliest attacker today, especially in the second half.

I would say your argument is fatuous as your only offering is "he's not good enough" and blaming him for a near perfect cross that the intended receiver of which praised him for. Adding onto the fact that anyone who follows the team would've known what I was saying in regards to deadline day context yet you insert the bs rebuttal of "Rom was one too". My argument is that due to the circumstances surrounding his signing people are unable to look past the disappointment of the summer in general and realize that in today's market signing him for 12 is good business for a reliable bench/squad player.
