We certainly have a punchers chance of VVD and/or Koulibaly. Either would make a big difference to the team on the field and would certainly help convince other targets that we are going places.

Tielemans would again be a FIFA esque dream signing for us but I suspect that would indicate that Ross is seeking pastures new.
What makes you think going after Tielemans would mean Ross is in his way mate. Totally different players. A lot of football to be played next season (hopefully we have good runs in all the cups) and he adds variety to our midfield players. Really hope we get him AND keep Ross.

Tielemans really would be a top signing. Has everything to be a top player.
In all seriousness if City, Monaco etc are interested then he won't be coming to Everton.

He's got one year left on his contract and I'm sure he's aware some fans are concerned about his contract situation.

Silence from the manager, claiming ignorance (which seems unlikely he has no idea on Ross's stance) and silence from Ross.

Maybe I'm putting 2+2 together and coming up with 5 but I don't think the signs look promising.

Keeping him and Rom and adding the rumoured superstars would be the ideal outcome.

To be honest I'm probably more thinking of replacing one star with another rather than replacing Ross with a like for like. I didn't explain that very well.

Agree with your point re the extra games next season. We need to win something and that will take both quality and variety.

All I can say to that is I very much hope you are wrong mate.

I think the club still means a lot to the lad. You could see the emotion when both the club and the fans got behind him over that gorilla nonsense.

For what it's worth I think he'll stay, and I'd be desperately disappointed if he doesn't. More so than if Rom goes.

Same here tbh. I guess it's easy to be pessemistic after the last few decades.

I'm hoping he just wants to see signs of investment before he puts pen to paper.

Fingers crossed.

Has anybody scored more headed goals than him this season?. where would you play him mate?. he's played practically everywhere for West ham this season.
As a wing back in a 3 man defence I think he'd offer a lot. However we already have Coleman in that role and a far better right back (although Antonio is better offensively). Can't see it myself.

Ross is an attacking midfielder who likes to create chances and score goals.

Tielemans is a box to box attacking midfielder who has the second highest total of assists and goals after Alli this season.

They both play as attacking midfielders, just Tielemans can defend better than Ross.

If we were to get him he could easily be a replacement for Ross.

That's pretty simplistic, I think they're really quite different players...
