I find it difficult to believe, given the timescale involved that we have not yet offered a contract even if only in principle.
Instead the fact that the manager when questioned raises the possibility of his imminent departure suggests to me that there is some doubt that the player wishes to remain.
Of course we are talking about Everton here, historically if we can make a mess of player/club negotiations we surely will.

didn't Koeman say after the last game that if he doesn't sign it then he goes?

He said that he will be offered a new deal, and that if the player doesn't sign then we'll have to consider our options/selling.

This has been his stance for about a month. But no deal has been 'officially' tabled yet, going off what Walsh and Koeman have both said.

Koeman is just honest.

He will be offered a deal. The club seem confident enough he'll sign it but, if he doesn't, then we'll consider selling due to his current deal running out in June 2018.

It's all a bit of a weird situation isn't it?

I see that nobber John Stones being right in his ear about going there too.

Will be ver difficult to replace him or Rom with anyone better. Better players will want Champions League no matter how much money we have,

We can bring Geri and Niasse back mate, problem solved!

At what stage is a contract regarded as being offered?
I think that recent comments indicate that negotiations are ongoing between club and players agent. I think both sides are playing hardball , the agent threatening his player will leave, the club threatening to sell. Both sides trying to get the best deal possible.

Somewhere in there is the truth , I choose not to believe anything in the media as usually it is one side or the other trying to strengthen their hand in negotiations.

Picture of him going about coming into training this morning wearing a cap and big shades purposely tryna hide behind his car sun visor and turn the back of his head to the cameras as he went past, must have a fat shiner.

What you've perceived as a 'veiled threat' might actually just be a frank expression about how simple the process is, in an effort to stifle all the attention. Maybe Everton haven't offered him one yet because they are not sure what he's worth yet.

The point is, it's distressing to watch this over-analysis snowball into pure panic and premature cry-arsing.

If Koeman saying if he doesn't sign a contract he will have to be sold is not a perceived threat then why say it? If he wanted to stifle attention then why not say no contract discussions have been held nothing to see here? and i don't know where you get the panic and cry arsing crap from either if you don't want to discuss anything on here (cos let's face it this is a forum where this kind of stuff is discussed and analysed) then I suggest you're in the wrong place oh and I'm sorry if my further in depth analysis has distressed you any further.

If Koeman saying if he doesn't sign a contract he will have to be sold is not a perceived threat then why say it?...

Any one of many possible reasons.

If he wanted to stifle attention then why not say no contract discussions have been held nothing to see here?.

I don't honestly know for certain, but I can imagine the same kind of discussion would be going on had he said that.

I'm sorry if my further in depth analysis has distressed you any further.

I wasn't actually intending to accuse you of cry-arsery, merely over-analysis.

After several seasons of a manager who we couldn't apply 'logic' to it's nice to have a seemingly straight-talking guy for once - but he is primarily a dutch football manager with hopefully most of his concern on the game each week and minimal amounts on how things he says might be being misinterpreted or blown out of proportion in rags/forums.

Anyway, Boss Rarkley's assist at the weekend was sexy, weren't it.
