Gerard Deulofeu

I am pretty sure it does.

We have seen what he can do in this league.....and it is pretty darned good.

Yes, he is inconsistent.

Goes with the territory when a player is both young and a winger.

He offers sommat different.

He can thread balls through to strikers others in our squad can only dream off.

It is beyond nuts that this lad was allowed to leave here on loan in January.....especially as Bolasie's injury had left us short a wide player and flippin' Lennon was kept on.

In short, Del was allowed to go on loan while we had no better option here.

And that makes no sense IMO.

It's a weird one Khal but I think Koeman (rightly or wrongly) decided that Del just didn't fit.

You say we had no better option, but letting Del go has literally had no effect on us.

It's had a positive effect on Deulofeu as he's hit some form for Milan. In a league where there is generally more space and the game is played at a slower pace.

I'm still hopeful that he could come back and impress in pre-season and be a key part of the squad next term. But i'm sure that may be a long shot...

he's had plenty of chances but i just think he's not suited for this division. I mean let's be fair, in his time here, he's had pretty much the same impact as aaron lennon. He went on a scoring run like deula did with his assists run. I just don't think he fits in the manager's plans. I'd bring him back and give him a chance in pre-season to try and stake his claim but i wouldn't be surprised if we sold him given his stock would be much higher than it would after another failed half season with us next season.
I guess we would be one of very few teams that would willingly sell a young Spanish player who is now breaking into, the full squad...

yep, stock is getting higher, but i said this when he went on loan, he's talented, so will obviously make us look a bit stupid when he has a good loan, but the fact is if he comes back here next season, i don't expect him to be any different in the prem. Confidence boost or not, he just doesn't seem fit enough. We'll see.

Why does everyone assume that Del was sent out on loan , as opposed to requesting to go ?
I suspect it was the latter and fair play to him for wanting to try his luck elsewhere. He was far too lightweight and inconsistent in this league to ever command a starting place here. If he'd stayed here he'd have just become the occasional super sub, alright for us but not what he probably dreamed of. Now he's found a league that suits him and he's playing for one the words biggest teams. Made up for him. Doncha love a happy ending?
