Gerard Deulofeu

DCL has scored the same number of goals for us this year as Deleuofeu has got for Milan. Yet we have people claiming he's the second coming of Maradona. Our best player is out on loan etc I've heard. He's a talented but physically lacking player who will never make it in England

I was a little surprised we let him go on loan as I still felt he could do a job and there was something in him

However he was consistently playing poor for most of this season, looked tired and just nowhere near the player we all thought had so much potential. I'm just not sure this league suits him

He's not coming back - he doesn't want to be here.

I suspect he's not the type to respond positively to a return to us from Milan

I agree

It is very very rare that a player unless a youth team player goes out on loan ever comes back. There is a reason he was let go

I think the only reason he didn't go permanently just yet is to do with the Barcelona deal. There may be a clause of some kind whereby if we sell him within the three years they have the option to buy him back they may be entitled to some of the money? So as a business deal it makes sense to sell him once that clause ends

I am pretty sure it does.

We have seen what he can do in this league.....and it is pretty darned good.

Yes, he is inconsistent.

Goes with the territory when a player is both young and a winger.

He offers sommat different.

He can thread balls through to strikers others in our squad can only dream off.

It is beyond nuts that this lad was allowed to leave here on loan in January.....especially as Bolasie's injury had left us short a wide player and flippin' Lennon was kept on.

In short, Del was allowed to go on loan while we had no better option here.

And that makes no sense IMO.

I was surprised we let him go due to numbers yes but he was so so poor in the months before we let him go

He wasn't that poor.

His last league game, at Watford, he did enough to deserve another start but never figured again.

And his last appearance, in the Cup, he was very good when he came on and had a great run to set Lukaku up for our goal.

It was a daft decision to let him go on loan.

Was just about to post this mate, you beat me to it.
I see the press mention Lennon will be back and available for the Man Utd fixture.
I had to pick myself up off the floor....

Another strange thing was that RK let Del Boy go after the Bolasie injury.

So suddenly we don't have a winger who can do a bit of magic and he goes for kids who are work-in-progress.

Del Boy had no joy at Watford but he was far from the worst and gave it his all but that was his last chance.

Yet AC Milan go for him... Del Boy was an obvious replacement for Bolasie and I was crying out for him on Saturday when it was
clear that we had no pace, trickery up-front. Anything about Del Boy is that he has attitude and would have relished Anfield plus LFC are poor at the back.

Hardly strange when Koeman wanted him to stay but Deulofeu asked to move for guaranteed playing time.
