He was more than Bad for me,no other words for it,i would have subbed him very early in 1st half myself, think his goal saved him been subbed even at half time, and yes everyone knows others were bad as well, but Pennington seemed to be stuck every time not knowing what to do like to track player,or even attempt a tackle etc,and im a fan of playing the young players as well if they are up to it as some prove, and some dont

I just watched the highlights a few minutes ago. He looks way off being capable at this level

not ready yet but you cant just right him off after that game, interesting he is around the club when Browning (injured) and Galloway are on loan both look more ready to me to step up, coaches must see something in him.

After that performance, I'm beginning to wonder whether we have any coaching staff at Everton.

Feel sorry for the lad difficult game to make a start and I don't feel he got a lot of help from the old pro's alongside him. He didn't show his best but I'd give him some more playing time against lesser teams to build his confidence.
But if we're honest how many saw the line up and thought him and Holgate on the right was a potential disaster both young lacking experience and game time. I know I did but hindsight is the gift of fools I think.
It's up to the coaching staff now to pick all their heads up for tomorrow.
I'm not going to write him off after one game.

I guess they weren't banking on RFM getting a season-ending injury, Jags turning to mush and Williams being a flop. They probably saw Pennington as a real 'break glass in case of emergency' player.

Hopefully he'll learn from this experience. He had his arse torn out by a player who will be at Barcelona in a years time. No shame in it. I'd like to think Big Dunc will be able to keep his expectations in check and look forward to see him play again.

Haha you genuinely believe Coutinho could play for Barcelona? Not a chance.

The lad looks horribly out of his depth.

He needs to go on loan to a good quality Championship side and then a lower placed Prem side before a final decision on him can be made.

I always think sending the kids to a newly promoted PL side or even a newly promoted Champtionship side is a good option for defenders, they get lots of practise and it'll be sink or swim.

I'd like to know who leaked the team. It was common knowledge from Friday night that Pennington would be starting. They clearly targeted him, and Coutinho made a beeline for him every time he got on the ball.

Fair do's to Liverpool they exploited the weakness brilliantly.

Would have much preferred Holgate in that position with a bit more pace and experience. And put Kenny in at RWB. Still a risk but i'd rather take risks out wide than at centre back.
