Ronald Koeman discussion

He said yesterday that he didn't know why the players are scared going out - if you're right then maybe it's because the manager shows no faith in them and picks ultra conservative tactics against decent opposition?
I'll be honest Dave, I did think he picked a more attacking line up today. What you can't legislate for is for the upteemth time in recent memory the team yet again 'froze' in a big game. Not one player gave more than a 6/10 performance. Earlier in the season koeman was rightly lauded when he withdrew McCarthy after half an hour (WBA) cos the system wasn't working. Fate dealt us a cruel blow with the injuries we have endured in the last 2 weeks, but it beggars belief that the starting 11 and formation came out for the second half when it was apparent to all that the system and personnel wasn't working. Even with a weakened squad, let's hope he has learnt something today and addresses it before the United game, as they will be low on confidence and under pressure after today.

I would of swapped dcl for mirrallas myself. If they players weren't bothered they all need binning
They are professionals after all, but I don't agree with the theory that the players don't care, but I would question their ability and mental toughness after witnessing another tame Derby performance.

Yearh I mean the younger ones you woudnt but the older ones you would. We know what it means etc but on the pitch they don't show it

You have to try and switch yourself of from it mate avoid Facebook avoid sky sports news motd, any social media you have and it will pass. It's more an expectancy we just give in to Liverpool now beyond a joke
I know mate, I go into the game feeling a bit confident but deep down I know what's going to happen, watched it with my mate who's a red and its just terrible

Form goes out the window as such. Even if we were sky high top of the league they would still beat us. Our record Against these is horrendous and it seriously needs looking at im bored of playing them knowing the outcome

Remember when Lukaku had long hair and he went it for headers and we were gonna out pass the opposition and live forever?

Oh Everton why doth thou forsake me?

Sell him to PSG.
Peter Reid and the other pundits nailed it on full time. You can't expect your striker to score every game, but the very least you expect us to give their back 4 a battle and for them to realise that they've been in a game. I bet lovern and matip barely needed their shirts washing, as they had such an easy afternoon. The PSGs, Chelsea's and united's of this world will look at that performance against a 'top' team and ask themselves, is this the man to lead our attack against the likes of real, barca and Bayern in the latter stages of the champions league. The answer would be a resounding no, harsh but true.

Nah man. I reckon they'd look at it and put it into context of a lesser side playing another side but the lesser side's striker still averaging more than 20 goals a season and looking ridiculous talented in some departments.

A more pressing concern to Koeman may be that his team selection for the derby was widely available in the public domain on Friday evening.
Funnily enough klopp said he knew how we'd set up after rather game, might have been some throwaway comment but you never know. Whatever system or team we put out against them it doesn't seem to matter anyway. We need a big performance on Tuesday.

Maybe another lesson learned by this feller will be to stop grandstanding at press conferences with his comments about how he's transformed matters psychologically.

He set himself up for a fall there with all his talk about players in the past two seasons being afraid of Liverpool as if he'd sorted that out. He placed a big weight on the players shoulders going into it and also practically wrote Liverpool's pre game talk for them.

Needs to belt up and let the players do the talking.
