Ronald Koeman discussion

They had their absentees too. Lallana is pivotal to them and Henderson is hopeless but seems to give them heart.

Us though: there's no excuse when Wolves are going there and handing them their arse. Imagine how much more proud Koeman would have been if they'd played like they did!
I like you Dave and sometimes I agree with you but for me the most important players to Liverpool are Coutinho, Firmino and Mane which happened to be the players who stood up and were counted for today. Henderson is proper dogshit, he wouldn't get in Sunderland's team. The thing that pissed me off the most tho was Lucas was an absolute boss in that midfield and controlled the game.

His good days outweigh his bad days thus far though.
He went with youth today, that many on here (me included) have advocated. Sadly they gave us there all, but not the quality we needed. The 'senior' players let them down. As you said, he has had more better days than bad days and made the journey to goodison a more memorable experience again.

Well I for one think this is a huge over reaction.
3 points is all that was lost and a pride. Only need to look at the points the two sides have picked up since the last Derby to understand how this one game doesn't make a season.
Their players pressed better, were fitter and dispatched a lesser able team at home like we have to others.

I'd give Koeman another pre season training and transfer window before you can measure the progress properly. Knee jerking has never led to sustained progress.

Thought Ronald was brave to trust the youngsters. The gamble didn't pay off but what was the alternative? If he played Barry and Mirallas and we lost the over reaction would be the same but with criticism that he should have give the younger lads a go.

If we had run we'd have revelled in it's arrogance and we'd have lauded it that our youngsters beat Champions League place contenders.

If we want to pride ourselves on our academy and believe that we might have a conveyor belt approach to talent the within it's ranks we need to back them and be patient and encouraging.

For some it was their first 1st team derby.

It makes us all more emotional losing to them, and the record is atrocious but it won't last forever. Records and results come and go but whether progress is being made under Ronald is worth realising and it is.

Perspective and patience is the order of the day for me.
We might overreact but this is the biggest thing to ALL fans and there weren't many out there that gave us that.

You hit the nail on the head there. Their 'top' players stood up to be counted today, whereas ours didn't. Simple really but that was the main difference between the sides. Don't think Liverpool where that impressive really, but they have the 'x-factor' up front and it showed today. Sadly don't think any of our team played anywhere near what they are capable of.

of their defence and midfield 7 then Dave

Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Milner, Lucas all played in both games

Differences being Sahko and Moreno played last year and Matip and Can this

Think this years 7 was worse?
Sakho is a more formidable CB than the ones they have now and Milner was in midfield where he should be.

That is a telling difference.

Lallana is their best player this season mate. He was out.

The difference wasn;t just that their front three turned up, the difference was that their defence and midfield imposed themselves on us when we should have given them a chasing.

Ross may come in for some flak but at least he was trying, Lukaku was just non-existent, he gave up after 5 mins when he realised he would have to try. Feel sorry for the young lads being thrown in to this, hopefully they will learn a lot from the match.

They knew they would win the game as we were hoping to win the game, that is the biggest difference.
