Ronald Koeman discussion

It was a new season and new manager back in December. Has he conveniently forgotten that woeful home defeat?
What about the woeful 4-0 drubbings at anfield under Martinez. Both games I was embarrassed by our performances. December's second half was poor, but nowhere near the embarrassment of those drubbings we experienced at anfield. Cruelly injuries have taken their toll before tomorrow's game, I know that you aren't a fan of Morgan, but our results since he came into the side speak for himself. Coleman is a cruel blow, both on and off the pitch, I'd gladly take a draw now if I'm honest.

O'Neil has some front. I'd love a journo to ask him how he'd react if he was a club manager and an international manager kept picking and playing a player who is never fit for his club side.

Basically Koeman has schooled those two prats leading the Irish set up and he doesn't like it.

Statement from Martin O'Neill

Once again the Everton manager, master tactician of the blame game, has struck out in his comments today, criticising both myself and James McCarthy.

Perhaps a review of Everton's pre-season programme might provide some enlightenment.

James had a magnificent tournament for the Republic of Ireland last summer during UEFA EURO 2016, playing his last game in very late June. He then returned to Everton after a very short break, but only 11 days later, he played his first of three games, all within an eight-day period, against Real Betis, Manchester United and Espanyol. Overloading?

It should be added that James last played for his country on the October 9, 2016 - almost half a year ago. Since that time he has been totally under Everton's supervision.

James is diligent and conscientious in his professional preparation.

Perhaps, in this instance, quiet introspection may serve the Everton manager and his medical staff better.

That's a complete crock of [Poor language removed] from O'Neil that.

The fact is the player was not fit yet he allowed the player to declare himself fit and then went and selected him.

So what if Koeman played him in pre season.
Those pre season games are hardly intense.

Jimmy Mac is a gonna in the summer that's for sure.

Koeman won't be bothered.

The second one was down to a run of injuries that makes the ones we have now pale into insignificance...plus we had 10 men for the second half...plus we had a SF to prepare for three days later.
