Gerard Deulofeu

Lennon doesn't play either so its a pointless comparison really. He has had one decent run of games since coming here and he got our player of the month in that time.

I agree with the tracking back thing but do you honestly think 4 (?) managers have all had him and not realized that his fitness could be worked on? There is an issue there by the looks of it.

I know lennon doesn't play pal, my point was he got a run of 5/6 games in a row over Christmas to prove himself but was awful so doesn't play anymore, del never got that change with a good run of games, in regards to the fitness and 4 managers, it's one of them... it's down to the player to get himself in match condition but yer it's deffo something you can work on

I'd say given Del is by far the most skilful of the three it is the other reign need to go.

He is, but skill doesn't cut the mustard

It needs to be accompanied by workrate, fitness, pace and end product under Koeman (and plenty of other managers TBF)

Between Bolasie, Deulofeu and Lennon, Bolasie seemed to have the edge when all of those factors are taken into account. Not saying he is perfect, but there's a reason we spent all that money on Bolasie when Lennon and Deulofeu were already at the club.

It's a crying shame because anyone with half a brain can see the natural ability there in Deulofeu, just nobody seems to be able to harness it properly and apply it effectively in a team

Never seen anything like it. Evertonians seem to be changing. Years ago when the likes of Alex Young and Duncan McKenzie - artists rather than artisans - were drummed out of a team by a manager, the fans took the side of the players in question because they embodied the artistry the club were known to cherish. Now many/most fans seem to be four-square behind a manager doing the drumming out.

That's modern football for you. It's rubbish but it is what it is.

He had a run at the start of the season and did nothing.

Probably sums up the prem really, this lad will probably have a cracking career in Europe, better than all our other wingers put together.

Worth keeping for our Europa League squad then? I think he'd be a brilliant asset in that competition.

Would love to see him start more for us in most games, just wont happen in the prem imo.

He demands to play, thats fair enough.

He is currently the Milan star player, fans love him, media love him, scored for Spain.....its obvious that where he needs to stay.

Young delivered though dave...MacKenzie less so, but he bossed the semi...and they both played in 2 different worlds...and sometimes out of them.

I can't agree more with you one this. People also talk about loyalty from players that are non existent in modern football...but at the same time I am amazed at how quickly fans opinions change regarding players depending on what the manager or media says.

He plays very well at Milan and in most games he had a huge impact even if he didn't score or assist. Even Spain thinks he is now getting good enough for their team...yet at Everton we think he is not good enough for us and slate him wherever we can. That is not the Everton I got used to over the years...where we slate players just because the manager or media says something.

I don't think anyone is slating him over what the manager says - the evidence of him standing on the halfway line, hands on hips, sometimes half-slumped forwards blowing after half an hour is enough for most people to know that he doesn't have the required fitness to put in a shift for the team and this manager won't allow luxury players in the side as Martinez did. Can't/won't press from the front, sporadic attempts to mark overlapping full backs, seems to lose interest after he gets a kick or two etc etc. I can see that with my own eyes, don't need anyone to put it in the media to confirm it.

Ability-wise, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn't think he's got the lot but unfortunately that's not enough in this day and age

He frustrates me massively because I know there is a potential superstar in there, but I don't think we'll ever see it here. That said, I admire him wanting to play every week rather than sit and pick up his wages like many players seem happy to do. That being the case, given it now seems really unlikely that he'll come back here and be a success, I hope he goes on somewhere else and fulfills that obvious potential
