Computer games.

Played a few hours of the new Mass Effect last night on EA Early access.

It's been getting slated by the gaming press so far.

I thought it seems ok so far. Bog-standard Bioware fare tbh.
The story and characters are uber generic and it's also been getting slated for glitches and bad animation (on an unpatched early access build ffs)

Not too bothered about that myself, game play seems good so far and the combat is much improved if a little dumbed down.

Looks very pretty though :D

I find Mass Effect generally overrated anyway.

ME2 was legitimately great - the other two I found slightly above average.

Sometimes a hype train sustains a series regardless of quality. For example, GTA4 was lauded as a masterpiece on release because people expected it to be one - in reality it was an average GTA game.

I put in 60 hours in about 4 days. Couldn't put it down. Genuinely loved every minute of it. Probably now one of the, if not the, best games I've ever played.

Same boat buddy. Feel like there's a big void now I've finished it. Got lots of great games in my backlog but it all seems to pale in comparison!

Trying to see when the soundtrack is out over here as that's a must buy.

I tried ME1 on the PS3. It seemed decent but I can never the hang of western RPG controls. Maybe they are just meant for PC, dunno.

Currently playing Digimon Cyber Sleuth. Its pretty quality, sort of Persona 4 like however the story (while good) and the characters don't compare to P4.

Same feeling I have! I actually feel annoyed because I want more and there isn't any left. Even if it was just 2B and 9S talking to each other about nothing in particular, I'd take it.

Does have some stunning tracks. The Amusement Park one in particular I liked a lot.

What made Mass Effect great for me was the science-fiction story element and the great plot-twists. Always enjoy sci-fi RPG's. I enjoy games that are part of the particular universe; so I'll also probably enjoy the new ME.

Same thing with all the Star Wars games, there are some great games there (e.g. KOTOR); but also some average. Still I enjoy playing them all. The Jedi Knight series ( Jedi Academy et al.), the X-wing games ... I think they are all brilliant games, but I think lots of people beg to differ.

Also you're right about GTA IV; very average game.

On pc they use standard (easy) controls.

And sadly Yoko Taro had said they don't have the budget for any meaningful dlc.

I'm just thankful this game got made. I was a fan of the original Nier but it sold poorly and received average reviews (though I suspect most reviewers didn't see the complete endings, as like automata, it requires multiple playthroughs). But then to not only get a sequel but one made by the best studio in the world when it comes to slick third person action? I was ecstatic when it was announced at e3 the other year but even then it's surpassed all expectation.

Hopefully Persona 5 will ease the pain!

Yeah, but he's also come out and said that if Square Enix gives him funding, he'll gladly make more NieR/Drakengard titles. Hopefully the reception and sales Automata has achieved will see that happen sooner rather than later. Just hope they don't try and mass produce it and ruin what makes it special.

I did have Mass Effect Andromeda pre-ordered, but since these early reviews haven't been too kind I've cancelled it and pre-ordered Persona 5 instead. Never played a Persona game but I've got a mate who raves about the series so I'm excited.

Its an entire game's soundtrack, of which the latter half is the first half with vocals, I think.

There is a 2005 updated version which I've got on Steam. The Dancing is much better in that, still pretty difficult, but not as bad/off-putting as it was before. In fact I quite enjoyed it once I got used to it.

Would love a modern version tho :) Some people have tried doing something similar (eg Windward), but nothing has come close afaik.

@Armel Just got my GTX 1060 and last night I install Pirates and play that all night again.
