Computer games.

For me, the only bad part of the game.

I flippin' hated that!!! It totally ruined the otherwise outstanding experience!

Ahh....memories....in an inferior ship outmaneuvering two or three vastly superior ships and successfully sinking one and legging it out of there!!

I know I also hated that. I could barely distinguish the hand-gestures so most of the time I was just guessing. The logic was also brilliant; the more attractive the woman, the better the dancing skills she required.

The sea-combat was cool; also liked the fencing part.

I want a reboot. They've got Civlizations coming out there ears but they haven't touched this in ages!!!!

There is a 2005 updated version which I've got on Steam. The Dancing is much better in that, still pretty difficult, but not as bad/off-putting as it was before. In fact I quite enjoyed it once I got used to it.

Would love a modern version tho :) Some people have tried doing something similar (eg Windward), but nothing has come close afaik.

I've seen that, Pirates "HD".

Yes it was brilliant, I know there is a recent version of the game for IPAD. Haven't played it though. I suppose they will pick it up somewhere in the future.

I have the same thing with Black&White; really liked that game but for some reason inexisting sequels.

Played a few hours of the new Mass Effect last night on EA Early access.

It's been getting slated by the gaming press so far.

I thought it seems ok so far. Bog-standard Bioware fare tbh.
The story and characters are uber generic and it's also been getting slated for glitches and bad animation (on an unpatched early access build ffs)

Not too bothered about that myself, game play seems good so far and the combat is much improved if a little dumbed down.

Looks very pretty though :D

Having tons of fun with Nier Automata. If anyone's played Metal Gear Rising Revengence its made by the same developers with similar combat.
It's really neat in that one minute you're in a 3rd person ARPG then in the same fight it can swap to a top down shooter while you dodge bullets. A really creepy but subtle storyline and lore gives it this eerie feeling.

Highly recommend to anyone who likes fast paced games where you need to think of strategy on the fly.

Probably the best few months for gaming in recent memory. Horizon, Zelda and Nier may keep me busy for a good while - I only own one of them at the mo but the reviews of the other two are incredible.

If you guys haven't finished Nier yet, after just getting to the true ending (ending e) I must implore you to whenever you can.

It's just incredible. I could rattle on for hours about the combat, the dynamic, mesmerising soundtrack, the fourth wall breaking philosophical brilliance. But I think the finest moment comes right at the very end, with an ingenious concept that I won't spoil.

I've played games which are perhaps more technically impressive, but that is the finest 52 hours of gaming I've ever had.

How would you say it compares to the older games?

I haven't been reading the gaming press, sometimes they put me off games.

What do you mean with the dumbing down of the fighting?

Also is that an ingame pc screenshot, because it doesn't look that spectacular to me?

Have you tried the MP? I adored the ME 3 gameplay.

Still very early game so difficult to compare.
Story and characters seem much weaker (cookie cutter even) and combat feels dumbed down, but much faster paced (less tactical than previous games)

In all so far, it seems ok, but hasn't offered or exceeded anything the previous titles have done.

Not as bad as critics are saying, but I still have about 6 hours of the preview left, so I'll post more as I get to grips with it.

They've removed the ability to stop time and queue up tactics and you don't seem to have as much control of your team mates outside of telling them to go to places. (unless I am missing something  )

The addition of the jump-jet makes the combat faster and it is less reliant (but not completely unreliant) on cover.

It's much faster paced, but less tactical. Still fun though.

By spectacular, I mean the art direction (and music) are on point. The outdoor areas I have seen have that "whoah" effect without being 'graphically' spectacular (if that makes sense)

Not tried the multiplayer yet though.

I put in 60 hours in about 4 days. Couldn't put it down. Genuinely loved every minute of it. Probably now one of the, if not the, best games I've ever played.
