Goals on Sunday

Consistency is the key Ian.

Fancy a tickle?
The consistency you're referring to equals stubbornness.

Otherwise there would surely be no movement for a change of opinion. Not everyone knew how bad Martinez was going to be, for example, they had to learn the hard way and have since acknowledged it.

We knew Ian. We knew.

Our crowd turned nasty because of the crap they were used to. We conceded goals because we lost a man in midfield thanks to the Niasse sub and like Billic said in his post match presser that day, he knew that we don't defend well and we don't defend crosses well so just keep crossing the ball. Fortunately we put in a professional performance against them this season and beat them 2-0. Make all the excuses you want for Martinez but 99% of Evertonians know 21 wins in 75 is inexcusable. So you'd be wasting your time. He's a garbage manager who has taken the two PL clubs back 7 places from where he picked them up, that relegated Wigan (who still haven't recovered) and Koeman is currently resuscitating Everton.

Like I say keep making excuses. But never forget 21 wins in 75 PL games is inexcusable, basically you're wasting your time.

The crowd turned nasty because the crowd is generally angry, negative and impatient unless everything goes our way all the time. It's that passion that makes playing at Goodison such a difficult place to play, for away teams when things are going well, and for home teams when things aren't.

My only argument in defence of Martinez is the players should take a bigger proportion of the blame for what happened last year, and that his entire reign shouldn't be reduced to "he was lucky in the 1st year and most of the credit goes to Moyes, and everything after that was [Poor language removed] and his fault" . All I suggest is a more reasoned, balanced view, and with some consideration to mitigating circumstances.

The end result is the same either way, he lost his job and we are where we are.

All part of the Greater plan, if you believe in such things.

The players were disillusioned with him. Football (rightly or wrongly) is littered with players 'not playing for the manager' the question is why? I'd put it to you that they knew he was taking us down, they acted and got rid of him. I say good on them, that's the professional thing to do. We were 13th when he went, we were on out to suffer consecutive bottom half finishes for the first time since the Walter Smith era. He's found his level now, beating Gibraltar lol.

I'm watching this Leicester team who are having a similar 2nd season to us under Martinez. I also watch a Leicester team who'd been on the Piss all week beat us without breaking sweat. We're on the up.

You think not performing to the best of your ability, not putting in the effort required, in the name of getting someone you don't like the opinion of, but is hired as your superior, is the professional thing to do?

OK, cool.

Says more about your opinions than it does mine.

Also, funny you mention Leicester. Because they are going through a similar thing now. Only further proves how circumstances, form and confidence can have a positive and/or negative impact on a team, and that it's not all just about tactics and and substitutions.

My opinion on Martinez was that he wasn't ever going to be good enough for Everton. That's the way it worked out.

Also I mention Leicester because Ranieri is another manager who gained massively from what went before. He's now gone back to the form he showed as a manager in his previous jobs, including what happened at Greece. He to will be out of a job soon.
