Ross Barkley

Ross has always suffered from being dubbed "the next big thing" following Rooney's spectacular breakthrough. The fact is that he can never go on to emulate Rooney's 'personal' success, nor his haul of awards and trophies.
IF, however Ross stays and one day leads this, HIS club, to even one title, then he will be able to look back on his career with more satisfaction than Wayne.
They will both enjoy their retirements as very rich men, but if we CAN win he league during Ross's time here, then HE will be the one that lives forever in Everton folk lore. HE will be the one to wear the mantle Everton legend. HE will be the one with no regrets and the feeling of smug contentment as he chats with his grandchildren.
Forza Ross Barkley.

I really hope that motivates him, Davies, even Lukaku and some of the young ones. It does seem like it would be well more satisfying to win the league with Everton than the new big 4 or 6. Leicester was a flash in the pan, but now the big motivation should be breaking in and staying in the top 4, and breaking the Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U stronghold. If he loves everton that much..

The Goal at Hull may have helped his confidence. Hopefully keeps getting better and better, and performs consistently till the end of the season now

...not unlucky to score, he does well to get in positions but then needs to shift down a gear and go in clinical mode. It's something he has to work on. He's showing more desire to get in the box but again it's something he can do better ("get near Lukaku" as RK puts it). It's hard work to do but has such rewards, I've said he should watch Frank Lampard videos or look at Deli Ali's goal for Spurs at City. To a lesser degree, look what Seamus Coleman does from open play and think about all the runs he makes where the ball doesn't arrive but he keeps on making them.
One step at a time eh mate. I'm just glad we seem to have the old confident Ross back, whose prepared to turn and run with the ball. Nobody better at it in our game imo; probably not many better in world football. I believe his decision making will improve with age/experience and if/when it does, we'll have some player on our hands.;)

Despite us not having a game this week the Soccer Saturday panel still did a piece on Barkley's performance against Palace last week. General consensus was that it was top drawer and also comments on how much fitter he is looking. Cue all the tabloids to start selling him again.

Will there be anyway to watch this video afterwards?

What I hope happens is Ross enjoys his football and ignores press. Best thing he can do is play in the best way he can and listen to the manager and his staff. He will be told by koeman when he plays well and when he can improve.

The over indulging from last manager always was setting him up to fail. How a manager is meant to improve a player when you tell them they can walk on water is staggering.

Fully agree mate. But I think our Ross does take notice of whats written and said about him, good and bad. So a bit if good comments shouldnt hurt his confidence.

It was a top performance. I have listened & also read so many people saying they remained confident throughout the game we would win & never felt threatened by palace bar the odd set peice.

For me this is largely down to Barkley he is so good at retaining possession he really does allow us to control games you can't concede if you have the ball.

As he matures further whenever we take the lead in games the tactic should always be for Ross to drop even deeper play keep ball & hit teams onthe break very very few players are able to do this.

Thought he was alright tonight. Lots of effort with virtually no movement in front of him. No help at all from McCarthy
