Gerard Deulofeu

I know nothing about this deal other than the wham which is chatted in the media of which 90% is made up. So I'll swerve offering negotiation strategy to all the Everton Directors not witnessing this thread.

I Deulofeu but the same people who idolise him are the same biffs that worships Besic so I hope he's allowed to go out on a free and the jarg icon lovers follow him to wherever he goes.

You what Deulofeu?

I can't understand the desperation to get rid of him in a limited January market?

We have others such as Gibson I would want out as a higher priority. I'd either keep him until the summer to see if he fits our team when we're actually playing well (a possibility if we've 'turned the corner') as opposed to when the whole team was underperforming as has been the case, or I'd loan out to a team that will actually play him in the hope that he improves his fitness and strength and can come back and play a part here, or worse case scenario, plays well enough to get a bigger transfer fee in the Summer when more clubs have more money etc.

No doubt he has something different to anyone else we have and I can only think he's massively unsettled over here or there has been a huge falling out with the hierarchy if we're considering a January sale.

It's not that easy though is it?

As far as I can tell we need to free up spaces in the squad so we can bring players in as we are at our maximum. But you can't just get Gibson out, because, let's be honest, who will want him? Players like Deulofeu are easier to get rid of as they can actually play a bit.
Same for McCarthy.

Yes we have worse players than Deulofeu and McCarthy, but nobody will want them.

I guess no one want to sign the like in Gibson and Kone?

Talk sense. Even on a free...I doubt it's easy to get rid of Gibson and co even Besic because they haven't played for what? 8 months?(not counting a game Gibbo played in the league cup in Sept).

Don't think we would have to give out on a free.
David Moyes has just come out and said Sunderland are "Short", teams like Swansea are also begging for some depth.
If not them then the championship clubs would all jump at the prospect of some of the mentioned above.
Cant agree more that we really have to look at some of the deadwood before we get rid of Deulofeu.

Personally will keep Del and get rid of Lennon first.

Why was Gibson offered a contract?

Memory evades me a bit here, was it before or after Koeman was announced?

Before I believe. I've heard talk of it being promised to him way before Koeman got here. Similar with Barry's extension too. I don't know how true it is of course but judging how many times we've kept people longer than is necessary it sounds believable.

Surely players such as Gibson realise they are made for life financially and should, if offered, take a slight wage drop to play in the Championship regularly. I am certain plenty of teams there would have him. Same for Oviedo, McGeady, Kone, Cleverley once he's returned from Watford in the summer. Maybe not Niasse, but hopefully he will end up abroad, somewhere far far away. Jagielka will likely find a new home at a bottom half Premier League side, maybe Steklenburg will go back to Holland or abroad. I think most of our 'not good enough' players should find takers.
