James McCarthy

aye.

can see this been a deadline move depending on Senegal's progress at AFCON.

A shame though as I honestly think the last few times he's played he's been brilliant. But his injuries are a worry and I'm sure he'll want first team footy.

Just seen that WRD on TEF posted that Newcastle have come in for him - player not too keen but figures hes not in the first team plans etc and they are offering a really high wage etc

Willing to lash that type of wage out then figure the fee wont be exactly small either - and the way there season has gone they really need to add someone with quality - which for the championship he should dominate - paying for promotion almost

Comes down to he's not better or as good as what we have starting and Davies emerging the way he has - probably has ensured we don't need him as cover - plus his injury record means we can never depend on him being fit when he is needed (coupled with Besic being a lot closer to returning etc)

A shame it's took 2 years for him to show what he still do. Taking into account the emergence of Davies plus Besic will be back into the fold next month, if a suitable offer comes in I can see us selling him.

Now that Schneiderlin has been signed we now have lots of different options for the midfield.

whats he worth in todays over inflated market?? plus its january, a sellers market.

To a team like Newcastle - mwith us taking a stance of not wanting to sell - and him actually playing most games when he is fit (as starter or sub), then 20m plus easily mate - they got 30 for sissoko, 25? for wijnaldum, on a par with those two really ability wise (if not better)

He hasn't shown he can stay fit and he looks raw.

We have Gana, Schneiderlin, Davies, Barry in CM. I won't consider to let McCarthy leave until summer. There could be injuries and we need competition for places. Gana is at ACN till February too.

Gibson, just forget him he is done.

£20m plus pays for snides, that would be hell of a swap if you will..

deffo mate, I posted last night that if he hadn't have got injured I honestly think he would have been on the bench for a game or two as well.

The younger lads must be taking a massive amount of motivation about there chances from the way we've been giing players a chance tbh mate

Coupled with every time one comes in like they have and take that chance it makes it a lot more likely Koeman will give the next best a shot as they are rewarding his faith in them - mand sure as anythinjg Unsworth is constantly pushing them onto Koeman whenever they speak.

Kenny is the one i really hope breaks through next - will get chances with coleman not likely to play every game as he does pick up knocks etc

Lucky in a way, we where the top of the tree in terms of teams after Schneiderlin and the rest knew they couldnt match what we could pay/wages etc - or the player didnt want the move there

With McCarthy he is gonna be arguably the next best centre mid available whose proven in the league at a good level, can see 6-7 teams wanting him and that will drive the price higher - hopefully we bend newcastle over and make them pay more than anyone else to beat the competition

theyve done well with getting good fee's for their players so they will have to pay out like they make clubs do.

and i bet Unsworth is buzzing this morning knowing one of his lads was the highlight yesterday. like you say it will motivate the rest of the young guns now...

I never thought i'd say this but I wouldn't want him to go.

But if he feels he doesn't want to be a squad player then it's probably best he does for both parties. There's no chance he's going to be a regular starter here now, and let's be honest, it's just a matter of time until these injuries crop up again.

sellers market, newcastle are loaded for the championship and desperate to come up. rinse them for £20m plus.

Thing is mate, think ahead, soon as Gueye is back we then have him, Schneiderlin and Davies there, unless two of them are injured at the same time, then McCarthy will only get minutes at the expense of one of them (probably Davies you'd guess)

Thats not even countign the fact Barry is not exactly gonna suddenly never get played again either

When we have a lot of holes still in the squad carrying a player of McCarthys worth/stature/ability is probably a luxury
