Ronald Koeman discussion

I've no problem him telling the likes of niasse and mcGeady they are not wanted here and find new clubs, but surely it is the best practise to utilise what you have at present before reinforcements are on the way (e.g. January window). Any workforce is going to be demotivated if they knew they were going to be replaced. Some would say this is exactly what the club needs, maybe koeman has upset the squad and as a result certain players form has been affected. If he gets the right players in now, there can be no excuses and I'm delighted with the start of the window business.
It's madness to me. Ego driven nonsense to be talking your players down in public.

I've never known a manager like it at this club. It's undignified and its not Everton class. No doubt some will admire it, why I have no idea.

It's fair enough telling players they have no future, at least he's honest and they can leave, as long as it's the McGeady, Gibson etc. If it's players on the fringe like Lennon, McCarthy etc and he doesn't get to bring in the players he wants, then these could be players we need at some point.

It's about damn time we had a manager who says it like it is, rather than be a BS spouting dolt or mr dour like our previous incumbents. Far too many of the squad are not pulling their weight and been told pretty much to shape up or ship out. That for me is good management

I don't really see the problem. He's not singled anyone out and has already told the individuals by the sounds of it. It's a professional game and they can ply their trade elsewhere to get paid handsomely. At least players know where they are with him.

You can imagine after each bottling spineless performance some of those wasters put out he was just sat there thinking 'January, you're gone son'.
True.

The flipside, of course, is that some of those spineless performances may have stemmed from players saying 'no point in me busting a gut for him, he's already made his mind up about me and I don't want to get injured and screw up my chance at a move.'

It may prove to be a piece of inspired, strong, man management, or it may turn out to be a horrible misjudgement. I think i'll wait and see how things progress from here before claiming it as either.

Just watched the presser, Holy crap....Thaas cold !!

What a cool character, Yeah some players in the squad NOW, Know they don't have a future at Everton.
Just imagine getting that 1 to 1....
Heartbreaking YES... but necessary.
OOOOF what a breath of fresh air

Do we really want some of them to have futures? Koeman is only saying something every man and his dog knows, the squad is garbage and we'll be getting rid of most of it. Should be music to the ears of ambitious Evertonians.
Like I said in my earlier post, many admire koeman's honesty and bluntness. However could he have not waited a little longer e.g. To the January window to tell certain players they are surplus to requirements. I am not against what koeman wants, we have too many average players who are not prepared to play the high pressing game RK demands, it just the manner he has gone about it. I think it has affected results in the last 2 months. Straight away lookman and MS will be in the squad for city, I'm delighted he is trusting lookman, he obviously sees something he likes in the lad.

Any decent player who belongs in a successful team would think 'I'm going to prove him wrong and get in this team'. Look at Schweinsteiger and even Fellaini at United, written off by some managers only to then get back in favour. If a player is sulking then they are just confirming Koemans initial judgement.

The players that matter though are he ones that are wanted - those that aren't wanted won't be played or have a future beyond this season. Those that are rated and praised by the manager will know that at least the praise is sincere and that they are playing well.

This is preferable to me than what we were used to before - insincere, scattergun superlatives for players who had done nothing to deserve it and who were probably demotivated to improve further as they were all praised to the hilt whether or not they deserved it.

Everton finally has a ruthless manager in charge. Get used to the new world gentlemen. He's told the board to put up or shut up, and now he's telling the dross to ship out. At least one person at Everton wants success and knows how to get it.

But mate, that's not the Everton way. The Everton way is to bow our heads and tow the party line with our tails between our legs, not saying boo to a goose and just plodding along without interrupting anyone. Success? Get out. Koeman doesn't get us, demanding the best and striving to improve, nonsense. We're the gentleman's club, and we know our place.

Nil Satis Nisi Optimum.
