Gerard Deulofeu

Needs to stay and needs to play. I am far from convinced swapping Deulofeu for Depay will benefit us. Both are young and talented but inconsistent wingers. Gerry wants to be successful here and has the right attitude. Too many questions remain regarding Memphis' attitude and work ethic.

Never seen a signle criticsm of Depays work ethic mate, quite the opposite - see a lot of reports and comments that the lad works excpetionally hard in training.

Seems to be a preconcieved notion that cos a lads flash and a bit of a bell that he must also not be professional, out these two - at least one of them can run for more than 15 minutes without looking like he's having an ashtma attack though.

What actually do you mean by attitude though, cos on the pitch Deulofeues attitude hasn't been anything special has it, histrionics and moaning more than anything.

I'd say he was decent in the second-half.

That possibly qualifies him for that accolade mind as like @MACCA75 says, they were all pretty tosh.

Thing is though he just doesn't do what he's good at enough Khal.

If he did, he'd be in the team and hitting double figures in assists.

He seems to never be willing to push himself that extra yard (literally and metaphorically).

Hopefully, he stays and he gets a run in the side.

Naimsinth was out best player against Chelsea when he scored a hatrick,m Kone the same season was our best player (against sudnerland?)

One game does not a player make

Honestly, I've heard/read numerous times Depay's attitude/demeanor/mentality is not the best. This is the first story that comes to mind though... http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...Koeman-blasts-Memphis-Depay-Manchester-United

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman BLASTS foul-mouthed Man United signing Memphis Depay
SOUTHAMPTON manager Ronald Koeman has criticised new Manchester United signing Memphis Depay for his foul language and inconsistency.

The Dutch youngster has joined Manchester United in a £25million move from PSV Eindhoven, however, Koeman believes they have overpaid for the unpredictable 21-year-old.

“I think they paid a lot of money," he told the Sunday Mirror.

“Because it is United, where they already spent £200m on players like Angel Di Maria, such a big figure is put in perspective.

“He won’t play every game. I have learnt, while I am here in England, that Dutch players can’t make the jump to the top of the Premier League easily. And young players can’t play 38 games anyway.

“And I see another lack of quality with the Dutch kids, that I have also noticed with other young stars in the Premier League: they don’t communicate! They behave like individuals. Stuck to their smartphones."

The Saints boss has been tracking Depay for the last five years but was unimpressed by his attitude on and off the pitch.

Ronald Koeman has criticised Memphis Depay for his attitude on and off the pitch
It was absolutely disgusting, the foul language that boy used towards his fellow players and towards people in the crowd

Ronald Koeman

He said: “I watched the young Memphis Depay often enough. I was doing scouting work on him when he was playing in the Under-16 side for PSV Eindhoven, and there was this game against FC Twente.

“I always work with a list of five specific qualities: skills, tactics, physique, attitude, personality. I did not get any higher with my average ratings than 5.6 out of 10.

“And you know what brought the rating down most of all? The rating for his personality.

“It is only because of the fact that I could not go any lower than zero out of 10, otherwise I would have rated him well below that.

“It was absolutely disgusting, the foul language that boy used towards his fellow players and towards people in the crowd."

Koeman has admitted that Southampton did try to sign Depay last year, however he knew that once United came knocking, the south-coast side had no chance.

If Del was playing under SAF, he'd be ripping the PL defenders apart. Point is, I think Koeman needs to inspire him and communicate what he wants from him. He has got lightening pace, skill to beat his man, excellent cross without a doubt and good on set pieces.

Man management is also a skill. Some managers go the extra yard to change the player's attitude while some want them to take a hike straightaway.

He was young and people change.. hopefully Depay proves me wrong if he comes here.

And yes, I'd say Koeman rates him if he tried to sign him at Southampton and now here!

Yeah I get that, he also said he tried to sign him whilst questioning some of his attributes. As I said very weird, its all over the place!

That express article is basically lies mate, they attribute the quotes to Koeman about his attitude when in fact...

Manchester United’s latest signing Memphis Depay has been slammed by Dutch scout Henk Grim and Southampton manager Ronald Koeman.

Grim, who watched Depay on multiple occasions during the winger’s teenage years, was heavily critical of his attitude - saying he would have rated him lower than zero out of 10 for personality if it was possible.

The influential scout called the language Depay used towards his fellow players and people in the crowd “absolutely disgusting” and believes personality is every inch as important as talent when judging a young player.

“I watched the young Memphis Depay often enough. I was doing scouting work on him when he was playing in the Under-16 side for PSV Eindhoven, and there was this game against FC Twente,” Grim was quoted as saying by the Mirror. “I always work with a list of five specific qualities: skills, tactics, physique, attitude, personality. Actually the criticsm which Koeman gave was about the selfish/smartphone attitude of the young dutch players coming through and about the dangers of moving too early to a club the ize of united.

Lol.

Says it all about Koeman that. Tries to sign a player and gets the brush off, then he demolishes him publicly as not good enough...and now he apparently wants to turn 180 degrees again to sign him for Everton.

What an utter phony.

"Basically lies". So did Koeman sue? Demand an apology and a correction?

Face it mate, what you quoted was just an abridged version of a more detailed conversation.

Lol.

Have you? How did you "prove" that mate?

Face it: Koeman has a left an evidence trail demonstrating his two-faceness on this player. End of story really. Embarrassing all round, but there it is.

Lol.

Actually Dave, unless Koeman repeated word for word exactly what the Dutch scout had said about Depay, then the Express has indeed lied as it is word for word the same.

It cites the Sudnay Mirror as the source for its article - the Sunday Mirror includes the correct quotes from the correct people, the Express omit completely the Scout because it makes the article more sensational.

As for sueing them, oh behave Dave
